Disappointing
Booked a superior room. Was given Room 231 which is as far as you can get from reception and right at the back of the property with a view of the kitchen staff smoking area. The WiFi was dreadful and kept dropping out. The shower was over the bath and not separate as described. The room was nice but I obviously have a different expectation of what constitutes superior. Was told on booking in that the breakfast was in the dining room but was moved to the coffee shop without informing us. Restaurant was excellent. I expected more from the previous reviews.

Lovely hotel with genuine old world charm, beautifully decorated room albeit it on the small side but as a single room was a good size. Bed most comfy I’ve slept in a hotel, linen really nice. Being able to have fresh air was a treat, took a while to find power point which was a power board behind bed, it is an old historic hotel. The atmosphere is fantastic and fittings top notch. On-site Parking is tricky and not a lot of it, staff assisted with tight manoeuvring. Check in early is best, parking full at 2.00pm weekday, that’s the only reason for not 5 star rating. Restaurant was fantastic as always, have eaten here many times. Overall it’s a must do in Ballarat. Staying was a treat.

Beautiful historic hotel
Beautiful historic building with charm and great service. Staff were very friendly and generous, and the room was well-appointed and quiet. Situated in the center of the city close to restaurants and historic sites. And only an hour drive from Melbourne.
