Fantastic service in every way. Room was immaculate and would highly recommend this for business or a holiday. Bathroom was a little narrow but not problematic.

Bed was very comfortable, staff very attentive and friendly. Hotel is being refreshed, some areas haven't been done yet and are very tired. Breakfast was excellent.

Really tired and old
Really run down and the restaurant was not nice. Staff were friendly however cleaners really did not like replenishing the shower gel and shampoo.

Would not recommend.
The Grand May have been the pinnacle of its time, but is now a run down, badly run and a bit of a mess. I arrived late on a Sunday night, and ate my takeaway from a close by 24hr drive through, in my room. The rubbish for which stayed in the room for 3 consecutive days. The bed was made and some towels were changed but god forbid they would replenish the shampoo and shower gel. The rooms are dated and wallpaper is peeling off the walls, the bathroom drainage gurgles away through the night, but the shower is always hot. I would highly recommend NOT eating at the restaurant, the food standard is beyond poor and tastes like a microwaved meal. Dinner went unfinished. The bar in the evenings there is an aging demographic nursing beers and falling asleep in chairs, and felt as if some were homeless coming in to brave themselves from the cold. Do not let the pictures deceive you here. This did use to be a grand hotel in the 1950s but not anymore.
