Don’t pay extra for beach front, you’ll regret it!
We paid extra for the beach front view. What they don’t tell you is they’ll stick you on the first floor and it’s street level so you will have to pull the privacy shades down and not enjoy the beach view because everyone on the boardwalk can see in your room. Not only that but you can’t enjoy the ocean breeze as the windows don’t go up. The beach front room is in the lobby, literally in the lobby with a door separating it from the lobby, this WILL keep you up all night from people coming in late loud from drinking and enjoying heir vacation as there is no other entrance to the hotel besides 1 foot away from your door. Think about that, every single guest has to come in and out next to your non sound proofed door, it’s miserable and we stayed up all night, had to keep the privacy shades down and on top of that we paid extra for this terrible room. Tried to move rooms and they said no, tried to do a late checkout by 2 hours and move it from 12 to 2 so we could eat lunch without our luggage and again they said no. Terrible customer service, no disclosures of the room noise or boardwalk level windows that only offer privacy if you pull down the privacy shades. If you want to have a “fun” time with your partner in the room you better be quiet because you can hear every word in the lobby and so can all the patrons (super uncomfortable). This room should have disclosures and should not be an extra charge. Ripped off and miserable experience!

This property is great as far as the location! You can walk out of your room and right onto the boardwalk where everything is happening! I loved that aspect, however, that is where it stops for me. The day we checked in, we were given a handicap accessible room (Orbitz needs to change the "accessible" verbiage to explain that it is customers with special needs). We spoke with Tabby at the front desk to see about changing the room. She told us they were booked for the night. In this restroom, there was blue tile throughout and a bench with the hand hose. I went back to the front desk, and Tabby told me that we would need to contact the person we booked through because they weren't getting paid directly from us, so she couldn't help. Long story short, Orbitz called them and Tabby "magically" found a room in which we could switch. Her customer service was beyond awful. The room itself was very small but was fairly clean. If you are looking for a place with amenties, please do not stay here. I woke up with a headache and needed a bottle of water. There are not any vending machines nor did the hotel staff have a bottle of water (I would like to shout out Stella and Michelle at the customer service desk! They were extremely helpful with suggestions and checking out equipment for the beach!) The bed is not comfortable and there are not full-size ironing boards. These things seem minor, but for me, the minor things make your stay.

Not so great once the sun goes down
Hotel was good. Not knowing much about Venice Beach area I booked this hotel as it has a great location. We arrive and check in, front desk staff was friendly and attentive....settled into room and everything is off to a great start...I had my GF, my 15 yr old daughter and one of her friends that tagged along. Ate at the brewery that's close by for dinner, still things are going pretty well...Then the sun goes down and it turns into I Am Legend with Will Smith. First night there, we learned a lesson to not venture off after dusk. We went to look for ice cream after dinner and I found it odd that everything was closing at 8PM. Since everything was closed, we ventured off 2 blocks over to Main St. to grab some ice cream. When we were walking back, some guy decides to tail us and we almost get mugged as we were walking back. My NY mouth probably didn't help, but I was being reserved since I had my daughter with me and her safety was my first concern as this guy followed us for about 2 blocks mouthing off and squaring up like he wanted to fight. The only thing that thwarted this guy was us coming up on a busy intersection. The guy falled back as we got closer to the hotel. Now I know why there are security guards outside of every building on the boardwalk. Got back to the hotel and the girls are visibly shaken, but we were safe and thats all that counts. This set the tone for the stay. Contemplated, checking out and finding a different place to stay but was laready paid for.

It is a nice hotel and it is steps away from the beach and the boardwalk that Venice is famous for. Upon check in I asked if someone could help me lock the windows. (We had a ground floor room and none of the windows were locked. FYI there are hundreds of homeless people wandering and living on the streets, in the alleys and on the beach of Venice.) The front desk clerk told me "it was safe" and that "there was nothing to worry about". It was myself and my young daughter. I did not feel comfortable with a ground floor room without locking windows. She then told me they didn't seem locked but there were actually locked. I told her they were not locked and could I get a room on a higher floor. Finally after three trips to the front desk she brought tools to my room for the purpose of forcing the windows to lock. Another woman in a rush to catch a plane came in to help and another woman at the front desk, (a little chubby with short hair) couldn't be bothered to help and was not interested at all. Once the windows were locked I could appreciate the fact that location and cleanliness were very nice at this location and it has air conditioning, something which I understand the sister property does not have. The woman at the front desk that did help, she was thin and a little younger with short hair, she told us she was new and she went out of her way to help us and was always nice about it. I would recommend this particular location for it's cleanliness, appliances and location.

Rude staff overpriced and loud
Horrific stay. Was placed in a room where the toilet faced a window with broken blinds at ground level where ut wad unbearably noisy. As soon as we entered our room wr came right back out and explained our dissatisfaction with the room and noise level. Front desk attendant informed us it would quiet down, it did not, and that they would reroom us the next day. Next mornjng comes after getting no sleep and a note is tucked under our door informing us we would be moved at noon. We cut our plans short to return to the hotek to be told by the new front desk clerk and "acting management " Joe who said we would not be reroomed in the ocean view that we obviously overpaid for and put us in a room on the back of the hotel. Joe refused to give us contact info for management or contact management themselves. Refused to refund our money or be cooperative. Joe/management became hostile when attempting to resolve the situation. Homeless were literally sleeping outside the hotel in alleys and walkways. Elevator can barely fit two people and a single suitcase. Grossly over priced for a terrible stay. Would not reccomend to anyone.
