Comfortable, large rooms
Spent another night at this charming boutique hotel, which is just minutes away from the bustling shopping center and restaurant area. Hotel offers parking, good service, nice accommodations and a comfortable bed. Breakfast is decent with choices picked from the menu, prepared fresh for you. Hotel is very quiet. Room itself is quite large and sometimes feels a bit dark as the windows little bit on the smaller side. The double superior room also includes a separate loo (from the main bath/shower room located on a lower level). Was a bit more of a challenge with a bad leg to go up and down the stairs, but overall, this is a very nice hotel at a decent price right in the center of the action. A touch of class at an affordable price. Would recommend.

Unfortunately rather noisy
Although we have no complaints about th room or service which were good, I telephoned before we arrived to request a quiet room. I was assured this was no problem. The room we were given was directly next to a building site that started early on Saturday morning. Although this was obviously beyond the control of the hotel, they must have been aware of the building site!

Really nice, classy hotel!
Never stayed at a Hotel du Vin before, but this was a pleasant surprise. Getting there was tricky, and depending on where you come from, the hotel is not readily seen. Tried to call several times to find my way to the hotel, but no answer. Everyone was busy helping customers. The only drawback is that there is no car park, so valet is compulsory. However, the hotel boasts lots of character laid out over three three floors. Front desk staff is helpful despite issues getting through on the phone. Rooms do not have numbers but wine names. The place is very nice and has a certain grandiosity (without the exhorbitant price tag one might come to expect, if I may say). The bar is nice and cozy and the restaurant too. The rooms were REALLY large; comfortable and easy to see myself spend a few days there. That was quite a surprise. Rain showers are not always my favorite because the water pressure is sub-par, but that one rocked! Really satisfied with the full layout. The bed (King size) was comfortable although the pillows were a bit too soft for me. Gym facilities are one of the best I have seen ever at a hotel. Really nice surprise. Loved it! Location is great too as you are right by a bustling part of town...while feeling away from all of it when inside the hotel. I had been to Birmingham a few times, but this place made me really enjoy the city more than ever before. I have been most pleased with this stay, and would recommend it to anyone looking at spending time in the city.

need to keep up maintenance
My second stay - first I enjoyed a lot This time i felt the renovation was done on the cheap and was beginning to show. My assigned room - horrible buzz. reassigned room - potentially dangerous hole in floor tiling.
