A quiet base in Neve Tzedeck
I was in Tel Aviv for a short holiday and wanted to stay in a small hotel in Neve Tzedeck. The Levy Hotel is small, clean, in a great location and very quiet, with a lovely courtyard. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. I'd be happy to stay there again when I'm next in Tel Aviv.

Levy Hotel Neve Tzedek
The photos are very deceptive - the hotel, rooms, and garden look nothing like the pictures on the Hotels.Com website; they are not as clean, white or bright. It felt to us like a "bait and switch." The room had an unpleasant smell of disinfectant. The couch was stained and very ratty looking. The wallpaper was peeling, and moldings were beat up looking and in some cases coming unstuck from the wall. The floor did not feel clean - it had a gritty feel underfoot. I even found bugs in the kitchenette. The TV and modem wires were a mess. Towels felt cheap and did not seem particularly clean; same thing with the sheets. The "garden" was messy, with wrinkled astroturf flooring, draped plastic tarps, and dead leaves. The hotel has a terrific location right in the middle of Neve Tzedek, so if that is all you want/need, this place is very convenient. But be aware that the rooms, garden, and facilities look nothing like the pictures. To us it seemed way too expensive for the actual quality.

Great location
The location and price attracted me to this place. Very affordable, right on the main strip of Neve Tzedek (which is actually not loud and busy). A short walk to the Carmel market and Nachalat Binyamin(which is an artist and crafts fair Tuesdays and Fridays). Also very close to the Tachana (an old train station converted into an outdoor mall). Close enough to walk to the old city of Jaffa, close to the beach, and close to Rothchild blvd, as well as Shenkin and Allenby streets. In fact, all of the areas and attractions of Tel Aviv that I personally care to visit are easily accessible by foot from this location! So really, I give the location the highest possible ranking. The place itself cannot be classified as a hotel, however. It is a private residence divided into three rental units. There is no lobby, no reception or office. The only on-site staff is a day-time superintendent who only speaks Hebrew. (Not a problem for me, but could be for some). If you have a late flight out of T.A., your luggage can be stored after checkout in a not-so-secure shed, until the superintendent leaves for the day, at which point he will move your bags to a corner of the courtyard, if he remembers to do so. The accommodations themselves are not well maintained, and not entirely clean. The pictures are not very accurate. That being said, it was comfortable enough, though I found myself wishing I had spent the money on a nice hotel for the one night that I was there.
