Cute hotel, but no one to check in with!
There's no one at the hotel. Some people had problems cause they had not received the codes to get in. Also there are 2 separate hotel areas, one are separate cabins and the other (down the gravel road) is the hotel. Breakfast items were not covered and had flies around it.

Great rustic charm
We didn't expect too much from this hotel but it turned out to be exactly what we needed. We only had one issue which was we asked for a rollaway bed - it turned out to be a baby crib. There is no staff on service (you have to call them) so getting this sorted out took some time. They did not have rollaways, so we asked for extra linens, pillows and towels. These were never brought to our room and the staff stops answering the phone at 10 PM. Regardless, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfy and the bathrooms were spacious. We had a great breakfast included in the morning. There were some bugs flying around but the hotel is in a rustic location so that's what you get. There is a hot spring about a 5 minute drive and 20 minute hike away which was a great treat. We got to the hotel too late to use it at night but the hotel had an outdoor jacuzzi which was the best surprise after a long Iceland day. The setting off the hotel is gorgeous. Which we had taken a few pictures of it before we left!

The bathroom in our $XXX (EXPENSIVE) room was unusable because of a horrible stench of sewer gas coming from the drains. At first I tried holding my breath in order to dart in and use the sink, but even that was unbearable. Finally we closed the door and left it closed. There was no staff at the hotel to help us with our problem. The next morning, we asked the woman in charge of breakfast for help, but she only pointed at phone numbers and an email address posted on the wall in case of problems, indicating that she couldn’t help. I tried to call the two numbers many times but no one ever answered. So we wrote an email that morning (and followed it up with several more) but never heard back from the hotel. We asked to contact the hotel on our behalf to help us resolve our complaint since the hotel was not responding to any of our communication. said that the hotel was not willing to do anything or issue any refund to resolve our problem. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again, nor will I stay at any hotel owned by this chain. I would frankly rather sleep in my car. It is absolutely UNCONSCIONABLE to charge $XXX/night (MORE THAN TWICE what we were paying almost everywhere else) for a room with sewage fumes permeating the bathroom to the point that it's completely unusable and has to be sealed off from the bedroom completely. I’m now disputing the charge with my credit card company because I have no other recourse since the hotel won't even respond to me.

Don't go
This is not a hotel, it's a joke/tourist trap, bound to put one off of one's overall Icelandic experience. No staff to help, a room charge of $160 per night that creates the expectation of a certain standard but nobody cares there at all: the building is utterly neglected, no room to literally swing a cat in the standard room, no light bulb in the bedside lamp, the handle of the bathroom door falling off, the light in the bathroom is operated by a sensor: it goes off when in the shower but on when a fly enters the bathroom. The wifi stopped working after 1 hour. The place was so desolate that we were wondering if we were to get breakfast and overheard other guests making the same statement. Needless to say the breakfast was more basic than in the cheapest guesthouse during our Iceland stay. In the evening they offered paid for dinner but there was no one around to cater for this when the time came. In a remote location like this with 20k to the nearest shop unthinkable. It is by far the most neglected yet expensive place I have ever been and I travel a lot. Don't go! Whoever wrote a good review must be friends and family.
