Past expiration date
As someone that has stayed at countless Japanese hotels of this type over the last couple of decades in my travels, this was the first one where I felt like I should leave a review to let others know what to expect. Nothing about Nest Ekimae was bad but it felt like some aspects were creeping that direction. I don't mind an old Japanese business hotel (this one complete with early 80s computer font inside the elevator), and the small size of rooms, but the carpets looked downright scary, and it was hard to not let the mildew and worn furniture impact this part of our trip. The staff was plenty nice and the location is amazing for exploring Sapporo, but this lodging could use a tune up. The rooms are well past their expiration date.

Nice hotel, good location.
Small room, but this is standard. Nice and clean and comfortable. We did not have the breakfast because we found cheaper eats nearby, but it looked good walking by. The location is nice, about a 8 minute walk from the main train station, and walkable to the streetcar, subway, and the nightlife area! It’s on a quiet street, so sleeping is good.

Basic decent stay
All in all this place was a solid OK. I stayed at 4 places over the last 9 days. many things set it apart. But if you are looking for an basic stay in an accessible location, this is a good pick, especially if traveling alone. Things to consider: -They have metal room keys which you must leave up front when you go out for the day and when you return you don't have to show ID you just give the the room number and they hand you the key. -Service is not as friendly as most all other Japanese workers, but they are not rude and all speak English -location is walkable to train station and many other locations but it is in an alley off main road, still seems safe -only smoking was available for me and it was definitely smoky -electric will turn off whenever you leave with room key -very small room, like small box that 90% filled by the bed -daily room cleaning is not included, there is additional fee
