nice little find
This hotel is tucked away in a nice quiet neighborhood, but with a 3 minute walk to the closest Metro stop, you're on your way. Peace and quiet when you want it, action and bustle when you want it. Enough can't be said about the staff. They all speak English, and the way they work together and treat guests, I thought it might be a family-run operation at first. They are extremely pleasant and helpful. The offerings of their kitchen is a short, but tasty list. Since Tokyo will be a regular visit for us now (our son lives and works there), initially we thought next time we'll know better on finding a hotel closer to all the hot spots. By the time we left, we decided we had the best of both worlds right where we were.

Standard gone down.
Second time to stay here. The standard has gone down . Dirty floors, picture shows dirt grom a very small area on the floor and mould on the window boring breakfast with the same menu for years and mouldy windows. Only saving grace was Rike who was so helpful. Please clean the floors and the mould and change the breakfast menu to be more competitive.

Clean, quiet hotel that's close to Tokyo Univ.
I stayed for a week for research. As a vegetarian trying to survive in Japan, I greatly enjoy the clean and spacious shared kitchen, shared refrigerators, and the personal refrigerator in my room. The room is small, but enough (even for an American). But if you are tall (1.8m+), the bed maybe too small for you. I'm feeling lucky for being tiny for the first time in my life when traveling in Japan. This place is definitely worth the money. The staff speak decent English, so I can get by with my broken Japanese.

Great hotel and staff
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Ueno station, which gives guest easy access to the rest of Tokyo and it is located in a quiet neighborhood so you can rest very well. The room was clean and beds comfortable. We were 3 adults, so when I booked the room I asked for a rollaway bed to be added in the room as I could not see 3 of us sleeping in a king size bed, however, Hotels.com never forwarded the special request to the hotel, but the staff brought one within 10 minutes. All the staff was really nice with very good english speaking skills and very accommodating to all my requests. I would definitely stay there again.

Trendy but Disappointing
"Hip" hotel ideal for non-Japanese speaking travelers looking for a place to meet other folks on the road. Easy check-in and the gal at the desk took good care of our baggage. Quality and filling breakfast was included. However, the hotel room felt a bit like a prison cell--awkwardly laid out, thin walls, uncomfortable bed, the television was in a totally unwatchable nook, and the walls were bare and dirty. When the light came in at 5:30 am, we woke up because the drapes were sheer. Black mold in the bathroom and on the windowsills. Not a deal, but if you prefer trendiness over cleanliness, it might fit you better than us.
