A hidden gem
I booked a single room and was really pleased when I got there and the young chap checking me in said I had been upgraded. He then took me to my room and I was delighted when I saw the four poster bed. The room was very clean and very well presented. It was quiet at the back of the hotel so I slept well. The shared bathrooms were spacious and big and I never had to wait to use them. The good was very nice, as was the service for drinks in the pub and the beer garden is great. The staff were all very nice helpful people. I would definetly stay there again.

Typical pub/hotel approx 700 years old!
I chose this hotel as it had free car parking and I could walk to the concert venue. It was having the beer garden done up but it will look great once it is finished. Fair sized pub which was quite busy. We did not have an ensuite but this did not matter. Breakfast was very good and not greasy at all, would stay here again. Only downside was the noisy traffic at night but this was resolved by wearing earplugs.

Awesome quirky Inn
My friend and I stayed here whilst attending a music event in the city. Its a beautiful old tudor style inn with lots of character. Conveniently It was a short 10 minute walk to the city centre. This venue was great for us as we were coming in quite late. Though the walls were really thin and you can hear other peoples conversations. This didn't bother me though, had a good sleep and was still a friendly place to stay, clean and quirky rooms. The electricity went off in the morning but the staff sorted it as quick as they could. The breakfast was yummy. rate the place highly!

A weekend at the old crown.
It was an amazing hotel because it was so old. A shared bathroom was a bit of an adventure although the fittings were modern. There was a kettle with a basket full of teabags etc, but unfortunately there wasn't a socket to plug the kettle into so no tea or coffee in the room. The beer garden was extremely busy on Sunday evening and very noisy although the music was good, all my favourite songs.

Very Welcoming Unique Hotel with Traditional Charm
Was given a warm welcome and a cappuccino by the manager when I arrived at 8.30am! I was able to leave my suitcase and go off into Birmingham .. a half hour walk for me to the University of Aston in Birmingham, where I was attending a reunion...The hotel is well placed just down the road from Digbeth coach station and taxis into town only cost £4-5 (it was £5 to the university). The no 97 bus runs frequently past the hotel to Moor Street Station, just before the Bullring, but I found it quicker to walk than wait for the bus...The hotel is very quaint and olde world...I was allocated room 6, which had a lovely view over the beer garden..(The hotel is also in a great position for the nightlife at the O2 and Custard Factory) I joked with the manager about the hotel having been featured on the TV programme 'Most Haunted' ...and asked for a 'non-haunted'room as I was travelling solo! However, when I came back to my room at 3 am and plugged the kettle in, the electricity went off so I had a rather sleepless night...! It was resolved first thing, but it freaked me out a bit as my friend and I had stayed previously in The Mary Arden Inn in Stratford Upon Avon and both seen a kettle move of it's own accord, so I was a bit unnerving to have a dodgy kettle again! After the excitement of the night I was presented with a lovely English breakfast and able to leave my luggage again (checkout was 10am but breakfast at the weekend was served until 11am)...and saunter back into Birmingham...
