A Stay in Old Windsor
We stayed 2 nights. This was a stay over a pub outside of the Windsor Castle area, about 5 mi. away..... so you'd need a car. It was so quiet and comfortable. The room was small, but it was all that we needed since we were out enjoying Windsor Castle area and being in the city. The breakfast was very nice. We even got in on a retirement party that Saturday night! Live music, dancing...quite a celebration....but was not at all heard from our room. Great restaurant to eat dinner at next door, too.

Quaint Pub for traditional English feeling
A quaint, charming old pub run with great service by the very friendly lady who owns the pub and her staff. The food is delicious. The picture of the inn on Hotel.com does not do the place justice. Located in the relaxing country (we saw deer, fox, rabbits and grazing cows as we dined on the patio and from our room view) but only a short ride to Windsor Castle (7 pound taxi ride). I strongly recommend.

Bargain place within an hour of Heathrow
This is a very cost-effective place to stay if you want to be in the countryside but only an hour from Heathrow. It's in Old Windsor, just 10 minutes from Windsor Park. The rooms are upstairs from the pub - it's a little shabby but entirely adequate. The WiFi was marginal - it only seemed to work when no one else was around. There was very good food in the restaurant (I had the salmon), and a free cooked breakfast.

Lovely
I loved this inn. I was exhausted from three days of nonstop travel. I had to stay over in London for a night before another two days of travel and was pleased to have a clean, comfortable room. When I checked in, the woman behind the counter helped me with my bags, made me a tea tray and made me feel welcome. I showered, got organized and fell asleep for hours. I slept well in the bed, it was quiet, and the mattress was nice with very clean sheets. The amount of towels was lovely and the shower was large. The room was also large, which is very rare in England. Once I woke up, it was 9pm and I was hungry. Being Windsor, there was nothing open, so I went to the pub downstairs, which also had the kitchen closed (again, it's Windsor). There were some locals at the bar, and they were interesting to talk to. The next morning, I woke up too late for breakfast, which the gentleman was rather off-putting when informing me, and I immediately felt unwelcome. Nonetheless, I was grateful that he made me a cup of coffee. The woman behind the desk was very kind and made me some toast with butter once we were chatting, as I had taken a malaria pill and felt ill. Poor planning on my part, but I truly appreciated it. When overtired, I portray uncharacteristic behavior and I appreciated her understanding. I later gathered that the gentleman was stressed about an order that had been filled incorrectly for a private function that was happening that day.
