Superb service & good food
We stayed at the Casa del Sol on the way to Machu Picchu. Our trip was extended due to a town strike against the train company, which prevented us from leaving. The hotel and staff went well beyond to make us feel comfortable and provide us food and assistance leaving the hotel. They had staff help with our luggage and arranged a car service from the hydroelectric plant to make it back to Cusco on time. This was a dramatically different experience from what we heard from other tourists staying at other locations at this time. The food was also surprisingly good from the unnamed restaurant. Breakfast and dinner was included in our package. Based on our experience, we would recommend this hotel as one of the best places to stay if you need a night in Aguas Calientes.

Casa Del Sol is a wonderful hotel ... my #1 choice if I return to Aguascalientes. Karn & Eduardo made our stay very special.

Nice stay, great location
We stayed at the Casa del Sol, Machu Pichu for one night so we can hike Machu Pichu. The location is perfect, just across the street from the train station and walking distance from all the restaurants. Breakfast was good with fruit, breads, juice and an omelet station. The rooms were small for the price we paid but the beds were comfy. They did supply your room with 2 bottles of water, since you can not use their tap water to brush your teeth. They also stored our luggage, no problems.

Can Not Recommend
I would not recommend this hotel. It was extremely expensive for what it offered. It sits directly above the train track so very noisy. Service was poor and sometimes resentful which is not fun when you are paying $350/night. We booked tour of Machu Picchu weeks in advance through the hotel, which they had no record of when we arrived. We dealt with this hassle throughout our stay and even as we checked out and they tried to bill us for things that were included in the tour and already paid for. A poor value but you pay for the convenience of being as close to Machu Picchu as possible. I recommend staying in Ollyantaytambo for much better accommodations at 1/3 of the price.

Nice surprise!
The hotel staff was extremely accommodating and understanding. There had been an error with the booking (number of gusts) but they were wiling to be flexible and provide us with an alternate room. They were patient with our very tired state of mind (we had been hiking/camping for 3 days) and did everything to make our stay relaxing and pleasurable. Further they opened their breakfast services 30 minutes early (4:30AM!) to accommodate the needs of our group. The rooms and bathrooms were the most luxurious of all the hotels we stayed in Peru.
