Cozy Hotel and Friendly Staff, But One Warning...
The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel itself is cozy and secluded. We appreciated the free wifi and the local Tico breakfast in the morning. However, I must warn you not to stay here on a Friday night if you are a light sleeper. The attached restaurant has a live band and then turns to a DJ on Friday nights and you can hear EVERYTHING from your room. We felt like we were inside of a club while we were trying to get some rest on a Friday night, and we were not able to sleep until the party finally ended at midnight. Also, the shower could use some work as it sprays everywhere except for where you actually need it to spray, on your body.

Location, location, Location
Right across from the Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas office and a few steps away from the beach called Playa grande, we really enjoyed our short stay here. We came here just for the turtle nesting season and were able to view 6 turtles at a nearby beach called Playa Nombre de Jesus. we stayed at the suites also called the beach house and it was quite spacious with a bedroom on the first floor and a loft on the second floor. the living room was spacious as was the kitchen area. A tiny pool outside provided a quant surround although the kids found it a bit small for swimming in. The 1 night we stayed was perfect for us. Note: their restaurant is closed on Monday nights but the near by local restaurant was good for dinner.

Not what we expected or paid for
This hotel and villas does not live u p to the reviews I read. The villa, which I chose because we are a family of four and like to have separate rooms to be in while kids are sleeping, was not good! It says it has air conditioning, which was also a must have. The one separate bedroom had air conditioning which dos not flow into the rest of the villa. The second bed which is in a loft was not even useable because it was too hot. We all ended up having to sleep in the same bed. The staff were less than friendly or helpful. When we arrived for breakfast every morning it was like we were inconveniencing them. The kitchen in the villa was not very clean, we didn't want to use aNy of the dishes because the cupboards where they were stored were dirty. This place would be fine if it was half the price. We would have been better off renting a regular hotel room with two beds, than paying double the price for this place.

needs work... Could be nice...
Good for the two days we were there, but bed was hard as were poolside chairs, so we left a little sore. Breakfast was a bit of a hassle. They said 8am which is a little late since the sun rises so early. But we decided to beach walk and then have breakie. But the lady ARRIVED at eight, so breakfast was closer to 8:30....then you could only have juice OR coffee, and forget about seconds on the small cup of coffee. For the price we paid, I expected more. Overall it was fine.

Special experience
We left the hotel at 6am to take a boat trip to hoping to see crocodiles, birds, and monkeys in the nearby park. We were not disappointed. On our return to the we discovered a band of 8 monkeys were feasting on new growth of the large tree adjacent to our 2nd floor room and over the pool. We spent sever hours that day and the next enjoying the primates antics from our chair on the balcony or floating in the pool.
