Great B&B in a great location
This is a charming B&B in a great location with gracious and helpful proprietors Jane and William. We walked from the York train station to this B& was a bit of hike but the sidewalks were level and for the most part smooth. We were greeted like old friends by Jane and William. William lugged our bags to our room (note, there is no elevator), and then got out a map and pointed out highlights of the area to us. Jane apologized for the small size of our room (in actuality, it was perfectly adequate), and offered to move us to a larger one the next night. The English breakfast was very good, and there was even vegetarian sausage for my vegetarian wife. Plenty of food, great coffee, and refills were no problem. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were quiet. The B&B is in reasonable walking distance of all the major attractions in York, but just outside the old city walls so away from the tourist crowds. We would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting York.

Quite likely best B&B in York.
Lovely place with personable owner who attended to every detail. I have used several B&B in York over the years and this is the very best. The location is quite good for visits to York Minster and the various museums. A bit of a walk, some on busy streets but with good sidewalks and very helpful, pedestrian-friendly traffic signals. Not at all negative but things of which to be aware: 1. Reserve early - they are downsizing and availability could become a problem if you delay. 2. Beware the stairs! Very well lighted and with good handrails but quite steep. A hearty recommendation for this gem!

Great location, would stay again
Fantastic location of the guesthouse, a couple of minutes walk into the centre of York. Convenient parking, down a skinny alley at the side of the guesthouse. It really tested my reversing skills getting it back out! Room was quite small and decor a little dated, but had everything we needed. En-suite toilet had a few cobwebs. Showeroom was adjacent to our room and very small, bit tricky to dry yourself before the dash back to the room. But lovely hot water and good pressure. Hosts were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Great to have been given a map on arrrival and had a few landmarks pointed out! Breakfast was lovely, shame it was only served 8-9am. I would have liked slightly more of a lie in on the weekend! Though it did mean we had a full day of sightseeing afterwards. If I visit York again I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here.
