Nice hotel for Taganga
The hotel was very nice, but be aware of stairs, there is no elevator and the nicer views are on the higher floors. Also, our shower was missing the shower head so it felt like you were using a water hose. The staff were very polite and breakfast was great.

Great view
The staff were all super helpful and friendly. The music at the nearby local bars can get loud on weekends so bring earplugs if you want to sleep with the window open like I do. I wish there was a way to have coffee or tea in the room so I could sit at the window and sip a cup while enjoying the view. But I did not bother to ask if I could have some from the restaurant.

The hotel was Ok for the price, but not great. the room was supposed to be a double bed, but instead it was 2 sinlge beds put together, which was uncofortable because they moved at night while you moved on the bed.

Great views! not so great service
The view from this hotel is almost breathtaking. We stayed in the 2 floor. For the price of this hotel I would expect a most updated bathroom or at least hot water. Our room had ocean view which was beautiful. I didn't feel safe in the area. You have to walk 5 minutes to get to the hotel in a sketchy sidewalk. My girlfriend was scared at some point we only took the money that we were going to use. The clubs, restaurants, etc are far from the hotel. The hotel is located in a lonely are no other hotels or restaurants around it so It can get weird. The pool was beautiful with the view. The hotel was clean... I was not please with the staff at the reception during the day. the cleaning and breakfast crew were very nice and friendly. The crew from the reception were too young and had no sense of hospitality what so ever, such a shame this hotel has a lot of potential. The lady was talking on the phone about her mom doing i don't know what. They were on Facebook in the computer, I had to really say excuse a couple of times... and when I wanted to book a bus back to Cartagena they young guy pass me the phone to talk to the bus company and book my own bus, thank god we spoke Spanish. Clearly they need to learn the true meaning of hospitality they are the face of the hotel. I asked for towels and he only gave us 1. One towel for 2 adults... Not the service I was expecting for $90 a night.

Perfect spot for Lovers
I chose Taganga Hotel because it was close to Santa Marta without the ridiculous price. We stayed for 9 days. A short 10 minute ride over the mountain and your in Santa Marta or another 10 minutes and your on Rodero Beach. The hotel itself was great. Should warn you, if you need an elevator, this is not the place for you because there are none. The staff were more than friendly, they went out of their way to make you feel at home. The views were fantatasic, although hot enough during the day to make you love the swim in the emerald green waters of the caribbean, every evening the winds start and it feels just so wonderful. Nothing like sleeping with the doors wide open and the caribbean breeze blowing thru. (we were on the top floor so safety was no issue at night). The food was unbelievably good. The only real improvement i would recommend is they need to buy better pillows. Also, if your booking thru hotels.com, I recommend calling the hotel to insure which rooms are sea view. They have interior rooms with no view but hotels.com lists them all as sea view. My wife and I are already planning our next trip back.
