xtra fee at end of otherwise pleasant stay
Great location, close to Oueno, lobby smells of smoke but room smoke free . Comfy futon, mini fridge, good hot water. Only real downside was that when I checked out I ended up being 30 minutes late, not usually a big deal in hotels I stay in. Here they wanted to charge me an extra 600¥ for those 30 minutes and said the would call the police if I didn’t pay. They claimed it was their rule about charging. I certainly don’t remember it being stated on their page. On the end they accepted 300¥, which begs the question is this not just a scam to get extra money from tourists. It was not a pleasant way to end my stay.

Surprise stay in this traditional hotel
I was delighted to have a mini hot bath Onsen in this hotel. It provided the basic traveller resting place. Do not expect the high end room finishing. I observe there were a lot of local staying in the hotel in the capsule. The room which I booked had a very old heating / aircon device. As I stayed during the Autumn season, the device only provide heating air which is very very noise when it was turn on. I choose to open the window for fresh air and bear the cold. The room was very cold in the late night. It was quite noise at times due to tge drunken drinker in tge late night. There were number of mini drinkering oulets nearby. Every early morning, the noise rubbish collection truck will probably be the alarm clock. I was surprise to see a layer of red metal oxide inside the electrical boiling flask placed for me in the room. Overall the hotel staffs was quite helpful to my enquiry. There were number of restrictions on the usage of Onsen timing, paid laundry self service, extra towel, etc. To be fair, I feel with this price and location ..... it is reasonable good stay but remember not to expect a 3 or 4 stars hotel service. You had to settle what they can provide at this price. If ones is not prepare to comprise, do not try to stay in this hotel.
