Kind and helpful staff
Susan, Joe, Anna, Jaime, and Elise were so helpful and wonderful. Although the hotel building is very old, we still had a comfortable stay. Thank you for your hospitality!

We enjoyed the hotel except for the long walk up the stairs to the room.

Do NOT recommend!!
I would definitely not recommend Ritz hotel. Here's why: 1. No lift, and LONG staircases. 2. Extremely hard beds. I woke up multiple times literally in pain or with a limb asleep. 3. No wifi in the rooms as advertised on hotels.com (at least not on the 2nd/top floor). 4. Terrible continental breakfast - croissants were not fresh at all, half of my banana was brown and mushy, and the orange juice was bad. 5. Very old with no updates (the carpets in our bedroom looked like they'd been there for fifty years). The mirror in the bathroom was not mounted high enough for an average-height person to use. Strange, mismatched decor and furniture (even the low quality pink towels were old and faded and did not match the rest of the pink in our room). On top of all this, you are about 1.5mi from city centre, so either your feet are already tired when you get there, or you have to take public transit. Seriously, pay the $10-20 more per night and stay somewhere closer to city center. The only good thing - friendliness and helpfulness of the staff; they were very nice and certainly tried their best to improve our experience. Also, on the little corner shelf in the stairwell landing is the Pictorial Encyclopedia of Cats. I'm not sure why they don't have a vase of flowers or something more decorative there, but I happen to love cats and thought this was hilarious.

Not great...
The hotel is dog friendly and consequently smells like dog when you enter. Not the greatest if you're not a dog owner. The staff was friendly and held our bags but only after the dogs behind the registration desk barked loudly at us. The room was old and the furniture showed clear signs of age. The shower was scalding hot and we couldn't get it to a proper temperature (it was either too hot or too cold). Breakfast was nice however, all in all a low quality hotel but hey, you get what you paid for.

The hotel was a little run down and the rooms did not look like the ones shown in the pictures.
