    Couple Key-hopping
Accommodations were larger than expected with a table, sofa and 2 TV’s. Bed was very comfy and everything appeared to work in the room. Full kitchen and cookware, plates and utensils. Grounds and pool area were clean. AC had note not to turn lower than 70 or it would freeze but with the ceiling fan on over the bed the temp was comfortable. Rainhead shower with detachable handheld was nice but shower head seemed loosely attached to wall. Closet was strange with a big box locked up inside of it and not much room to hang anything. Nice sunset view with bridge from the movie True Lies as a backdrop! Quiet, comfortable and nicer than expected.

Captain Pips is a good clean hotel
I liked my room and the location check in was very smooth and easy they had me in and out of the office in under 5 minutes with my key in hand. The only 3 issues I experienced was not being able to find the bath towels once Jasmine showed me that they were actually in a drawer it was good. I tried to call the office in the am to find where the towels are and the phone I called did not answer the info left on the table was confusing and was more geared to boat rentals etc. It would be very helpful if they could put a clear simple without graphics information card that includes the office contact number local police etc. Most hotels have this. Check out time being at 10:00 AM is not very reasonable at all. Given the rates at this hotel they need to adjust that to 11:00 or 12:00 That is the normal check out time at every single other hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel frequently when I get off the road I am tired and usually have work to do, to be ousted at 10 is just not good. They also have a phone in the room that connects to the office or front desk. Nothing would deter me from returning to Captain Pips this is my second stay and it was mostly all good. I understand the plight of business in the Keys because of Hurricane Irma I am a Florida resident and have observed a lot of the damage that was caused down here in the keys however Captain Pips is open up and running and a great place to stay.

Beware of the lady in the check in trailer!!!
The lady at the check in trailer was VERY unpleasant and rude from the beginning that we walked through the door. We asked about a light bulb that was shining directly into our window making it daylight all night (some people may like it I guess?) and she said "I don't know what you are talking about any light bulb" and that she would send a maintenance man and no maintenance man came. My husband said he could do it himself and she said "I hope not it's our hotel". Very rude and degrading when speaking to us. We were also supposed to get our sheets changed on Saturday according to the housekeeping schedule but that didn't happen either. For the same amount of $$ we could have stayed in the Hyatt or another hotel/motel, we have stayed in this town many times and have nothing but pleasant service, this is one of our favorite places to visit since it's only a few hours away but we will not stay here again!

I was only there one evening, but the room and location were outstanding, even if off U.S. 1. I would love to stay here again for a weekend or longer.
