great location
Situated in the very center, the Generator Mitte is a great place to stay when on budget. I chose a six-person dorm for the two nights I stayed and can recommend it. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Remember to bring your own towels, shampoo and padlock. All of those can be bought / rented at the reception as well. Receptionists are extremely welcoming and helpsome. Breakfast for 5€ is good. Coffee, juice and sandwiches - nothing fancy, but definitely worth the money in the center of Berlin. They're offering a free walking tour, but it's actually just someone who walks a bunch of people form different nearby hostles to the Brandenburg Tor to attend the Sandemans free walking tour (which by the way is great). You can also go there without the guide from the hostel as well. There a hostel bar in the building, no eating place though. But of course being in the city center, there are plenty of restaurant options around. I would absolutely stay in the Generator again.

Modern, but far from great
Because we booked through a third party the front desk couldn't find our reservation. Eventually it was found after a call to Hotels.com. The hotel was definitely misrepresented on hotels.com. This is 100% a hotel for the 18-27 age range. I booked this hotel with my 70 year old father and other than expensive beer in the bar there was absolutely nothing there that would interest a man of his age. Lots of young 'kids'. This is more of a hostel than a hotel. Everything was very modern, but even I at 32 felt out of place. Great place for the young crowd to spend their time and money. Older crowd, seek elsewhere...

A Good Place To Party but Not a Place To Rest
The hostel itself was good with many stuff to do at the hostel, but the night I spent in the mixed dorm was terrible with one guy snoring too strongly the whole time. And the room was too hot because we couldn't open the windows. A good place to party maybe but not a place to get some rest.

Hot Room!
I stayed in a 8 dorm & it was not spacious at all. It was hot in the room too. You can't open the window either plus the fire alarm went off twice in one day. The hostel is in a great area & the staff was nice.
