Great location for us clean and good price.

Cold shower
Standard motel for Christchurch that I use on occasion. Rooms are clean enough but showers could use an upgrade. This stay there was no hot water for a shower in the morning. The water was tepid at best. The desk staff said they were unaware of the issue. This is the second time staying here this has happened.

Not recommended for comfort
They say you get what you pay for, I think I over paid and at only $88 per night I wasn't expecting much. Good reception service, secure parking, tidy and neat common areas. However the room was cold, heating inadequate and no blanket or duvet provided. Poor quality workmanship in the bathroom kind of undid what have clearly been earnest efforts to renovate and modernise. On the right track with the renovations and furnishings but details missing. One of the lights above the bed didn't work, the shower lever gave no indication of where hot and cold should be and the toilet paper was, excuse the pun, crap. I was on the top floor next to the fire escape stairs and I'd rather jump off the balcony in the event of a fire than try my luck on those rusty menaces. Surely they are illegal in their current state? Staff were the only redeeming feature, all professional, pleasant and well presented.

Bad service, comfy bed.
There was issues with me checking in & because of the way I look I was treated pretty badly by the girl behind the counter. The room I booked online wasn’t the same as the room I stayed in. Room was clean & bed was comfy though. I wouldn’t recommend The Ashley simply because of the service.
