The Naka Phuket, Kamala
One of the best stay in Phuket
Amazing service from staff. Warm and always provided alternatives.

Great place- change the song in lobby!
We loved this place! Beautiful grounds and rooms. One thing- it would be nice to alternate the song played in the front desk area. It drove me nuts for the few times I was up there and can't be pleasant for those who work there and hear the same song on loop constantly.

The perfect hotel/resort!
The NAKA resort in Phuket is by far the best resort I have ever stayed at in my entire life. The staff there went above and beyond to accommodate us. We had the best time. The vila was huge and perfect. The private pool in our villa was very big. The room had the perfect view of the ocean. The staff was just amazing. If a perfect hotel exists it would be the Naka in Phuket and I'm dead serious!

Skip it
On a two night stay, I stayed in two different rooms. The first had a broken front step directly outside the door, buckling floorboards, and lots of bugs (due to one broken sliding door). Due to the door issues, I was moved to another room. This one was better in terms of maintenance, but overall the property needs work. Also, housekeeping will keep ringing the door bell and yelling at you until you go outside to speak with them, even when the do-not-disturb sign is displayed. I found this irritating. There was also a power outage for several hours one night due to the onsite generating breaking down, and no offer of any sort of compensation by management.

Poor quality at a premium price
The Naka is one of the most frustrating places we've stayed at. It could be fantastic but fails to live up to its promise, mainly due to the abysmal service. It's a great spot, set in its own bay and beach (if you don't mind the rock pools, not the easiest to swim in). We liked the modern design of the villas but the upkeep is poor and they look tired in places. The finishes you would expect from something that promotes itself as a five star hotel are missing. Corners have been cut and it shows. Also, there are many concrete steps to the villas, and many of the lights had gone, making it dangerous to walk at night. There were not enough staff and many of those working were poorly trained. Simple requests like an additional sun lounger were refused (despite charging us for an extra person in our villa). Restaurant reservations we were told had been made hadn't been, which we only found out after an hour drive to the restaurant. It was my birthday during our stay and my partner had arranged surprises via the hotel, which they spoilt by asking him questions about on two occasions in front of me. It shows the lack of attention to detail and highlights the poor training on customer service you would expect from a high-end hotel which should be as standard at this price point. The exception would be the restaurant staff at breakfast who were friendly and the breakfast selection is good. Management need to raise their game. Until then avoid the Naka Hotel.
