Good service but tired guest house
The gal running the hotel provides friendly and helpful service. This is not high cost lodging for the area so you can't expect luxury but there is a need to replace the mattresses as we could feel every spring and never slept well. Breakfast is also very sparse with a couple of breads, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and juices to choose from. The bus stop into the center of town is conveniently right across the street and only takes a few minutes. You can buy a four pound all day ticket on the bus as well. Overall, friendly service but need to make some investments in the house.

Good service for the price
The room was well presented and clean. The owner was very helpful and prepared a perfectly acceptable breakfast in the morning. The only major negative was the noise from the owners children, unfortunately this made sleeping in or taking afternoon naps (after a long night out) difficult.

Basic but adequate
My son and I made a very last minute reservation to stay at this guesthouse. The accommodation is basic but was perfectly adequate for our needs. The owners and their family made us very welcome.

Thanks for a lovely 3 nights in Edinburgh!
The hostess was friendly and helpful, though we only saw her twice. The breakfast room was adorable, the staff was friendly, though the table cloths could have been cleaner. The continental breakfast was mostly pre-packaged crepes and sweets, canned fruit salad, etc. But, that's fine as it doesn't produce waste and doesn't encourage you to linger when you want to eat quick and get out to explore. ;) Our room was a bit too warm, but we didn't ask about how to control it, so we just left the window open a bit. The view was charming. The only negative comment was the mould along the bottom of the shower (along the door track), and the dirt on the shower floor, and bathroom floor that could have easily been washed away. This in no way detracted from the comfort of the room, and I would certainly return here, especially due to its proximity to the sights.
