I was on an extremely stressful trip to Rome with my mother, and Matteo and the whole staff went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible. A beautiful hotel in a great location with really awesome staff.

A hidden little hotel on a busy, popular street
The location is excellent but the hotel is two fights up a non descriptor building. There is a lift. I would recommend it for the location but the room was small, yet clean.

Sparse, but very clean
We chose this hotel to be close to friends at the Marriott. It was a great location for us; we enjoyed being close to the park so we could run in the mornings and there are plenty of little cafes nearby for coffee. Breakfast was minimal, but delivered on time and quality was good. The bed was so-so and minimalist, but the room/bathroom were very clean and modern. There was quite a bit of street noise and a bright florescent light outside our window (the light was very bright even with the blackout curtains drawn) that we figured out how to turn off, but I'm surprised that they would have something so stupid there in the first place. The staff was a bit gruff, but all in all it was a decent place to sleep at night, which was all we needed.

Last day in Roma
Residenza A is a great boutique hotel right at the top of the Via Veneto and down the block from the Hotel Excelsior. Great spot if you fancy a walk in the park surrounding the Villa Borghese and a visit to the villa itself, which has a wonderful art collection. There is a gym/health club right at the entrance to the park, which was closed for renovations, but when open people staying at the hotel can get in for a reduced rate. While it is easy to get to the Spanish steps, and the walk along the Via Veneto is fascinating for its fancy hotels, embassies and "La Dolce Vita" ambiance, getting to some of the more historical sites requires a little more effort. Rooms are listed by size. We stayed in M for medium with a window on the Via Veneto, just fine for us. The design is sleek and the staff very helpful with directions and reservations. Fabrizio, the evening concierge, was helpful suggesting visits to less touristy sites and restaurants with authentic Roman flavor, including Fellini's old stomping grounds. Breakfast is served in your room at a time you need to request the night before. No desk staff after 10pm but this was not a problem as we had keys to the front door. If you are interested in art collecting all of the artwork in the rooms is original and for sale. We had a great time here for our last three days in Italia. If you have visited Rome before and want a place that is just a little bit out of the way yet still has that Roman flavor this may be the place for you.
