Such a good stay. The staff were charming, the room was spacious and comfortable. The pillows were the best we’ve ever experienced . We were delighted the location was so close to the lovely old town back streets and we loved wandering around. The food was out of this world.

Our stay at the Riva Surya was good but our experience with expedia was absolutely horrible. We were double charged for a room and expedia informed us that it would be cleared up. They did not refund the entire room price and owe us about $100. When we called to get this straightened out, and I'm pretty sure someone was trying to scam us. We did call a legitimate number from the web site. We spoke to Jessica (EX195) who said she'd forward our call to a manager. The manager said the ONLY way to get the full refund was to go to the nearest Wal-Greens and get a gift card from Hotels.com. Then, we needed to load $500 on this card and send the money back to them and then they would refund that plus what we were owed. Okay... this is either a rogue employee trying to scam us or some messed up Expedia policy. I contacted the Federal Trade Commission who stated that a refund should NEVER be handled this way. There website states that paying via gift cards is "always, always, always a scam". When I asked for the gentleman's name he hung up on me. I am very unnerved by expedia and will never use this again. Please people... DO NOT use expedia. It's not just that they have bad customer service, they will actively target you for a scam. I have already contacted the BBB and will be forwarding this along to as many people/organizations as possible so hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Beautiful view of the river from my room balcony!
I had such a wonderful experience in the beautiful Riva Surya Bangkok Hotel by the river! Their staff were very professional, friendly and efficient! I was very happy with the fast & competent staff repair from ‘Beer’ and ‘Ben’ in fixing my 'Room Deposit Box!' Pla so graciously helped me in finding the best ATM machine to use near the hotel. Pui did a great job in giving me helpful information and a wake-up call last weekend. Layda was very helpful with flight confirmation. My room maid Jeab, was very friendly and professional! She was very eager to assist me any way she could! The hotel waiters 'Poom' & ‘Dang’ and waitress 'A' were very efficient and kind in serving me as much as possible. Your breakfast buffet was very delicious and beautifully arranged with many types of fruit, meat, baked foods, vegetables, salads, juices and much more. My favorite foods in your buffet were: Shrimp dumplings, customized egg omelets and the strawberry yogurt with the dried fruits/cashews! Your Thai chocolate coffee w/ Carnation's condensed sweet milk made my drink so very delicious!! I'll let my friends know about your terrific hotel with the absolute elegant swimming pool that I swam in and the gorgeous river scenery from my room balcony! Sincerely Grateful, Dianne S. from California

Great hotel w/ nice location and helpful staff
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in Aug. 2017 and had a very nice stay overall. The location of the hotel near the Grand Palace and National Museum is quite convenient. The proximity to Khaosan Road, two highly rated restaurants – Hemlock and Peeps – restaurants where we had enjoyable dinners ourselves – and two ATMs is also great. Beyond its location, my wife and I found the staff members very helpful. They were great in hailing cabs for us as needed and providing us with slips noting the cab numbers should anything go wrong. Finally, even though they have a late check-out time (12 noon) and an early check-in time (2 p.m.), they were willing to let us stretch check-out to 1 p.m. even on a day when they were completely sold out. I have rated them a little short of being outstanding because while we found the room rates to be reasonable, that couldn’t be said about every aspect of our experience at the hotel. The most notable example of the place being overpriced in some aspects is the 1600 Baht that they charged my wife for her pick-up from the airport. For context, a cab ride to the airport costs about 350 Baht. As another example, there was some color which had bled from my eye shades onto the pillow and I was told that I would have to pay 300 Baht for it. Now while I am not averse to paying for any damage to hotel property, 300 Baht seems too steep. In any case, I scrubbed the pillow cover with soap & shampoo and was able to get the stains (& the charge) removed.

River Side hotel close to attractions
2nd time to Riva Surya Hotel. Recommend it especially during rainy season. Located next to the ferry pier Phra Arthit, River view room are nice, though the river is not a very scenic one, it is still the best deal for more chilled atmosphere (comparing to the other hotels located in city/far from river). Highly recomanded for those who enjoy slow days, cruise by tourist boat which stops at most attractions. Love the swimming pool, rebuilt last year, and this is one of the reason for my 2nd visit during rainy season. I stayed 5days in Riva Surya Bangkok, 4 days were thunder and rain. When there were pouring rain, the pool side couching area and gym were best to stay. When rain get lighter in the afternoon, just 2min to the pier and hop onto the ferry for attractions. Buffet breakfast provide enough varieties of food. The food menu is a bit fusion, taste is good but since they dont have photo on menu, have no idea what kind of food will be served. One bad thing is about riding taxi or tuktuk back to hotel. None of them know the hotel address, or overcharge 300%. But when I show the tourist boat map or tell them to go "Phra Arthit", everything would be fine and easy. Last thing to remind, they dont allow late/early check-in, you need to pay for full day even for few hours early check-in/ late check-out. I would suggest the hotel to provide more flexibility for clients, such as 1-2 hours free flexibility.
