What You See in the Photos is What You Get :)
There were a lot of bad reviews on Trip Advisor. This place is breathtakingly beautiful. I surprised my partner for his birthday by taking him here for 2 nights and he was in awe. Best place we have stayed, and we’ve been to other 5 star resorts around the world. The staff did a beautiful welcome / happy birthday arrangement on the bed. It was a day late, but it was the thought and effort that counted. It must have taken them ages and lord knows they tend to hundreds of people daily. I was hesitant on booking because of the cost and bad reviews, but the price went down on, I had a discount code and there were enough good reviews for me to take the risk. So glad I did. The staff were good at emailing before my visit to advise on transport. They arranged all transport to and from the resort (they have their own speedboats), all for a fee, of course. It was reasonable. They take care of all your suitcases door to door. One thing to note that the website doesn’t convey is the place is massive. It’s an establishment. The rooms are secluded up in the hills, and you need trolleys and buggies to take you up and down. The buggies are always available. If you want something traditional, authentic, beautiful, unique and memorable, try it out. If you want first class western ‘service’ and ‘ambiance’, go to a 5 star in Bangkok; not one on a remote, unspoiled island. Friendly staff, decent food (food and drinks expensive for Thai standards).

Good 6.0
Excellent product. Mediocre, careless staff
Hotel is nicely built with a lot of carefully designed elements throughout out the premises and inside the rooms. The restaurant have nice views. Ocean view room was amazing with bathtub outside overlooking the island and sea. Had drinks at Titan bar by beach, dinner at Khao tang and breakfast at Siatara by infinity pool. All of them were excellent - food, drinks and service. Bad part: Fastest way to reach is by speedboat via hotel's private pier. Transfers - airport/pier to hotel and fro work out to 1 night fare of standard room. You can reach by using local ferry and taxi which is cheaper and takes more time but hotel staff didn't mention it either online, during phone call & emails prior to arrival or when in hotel. We booked hotel speedboat for 13:30 and arrived at the pier at 13:00. The staff didn't seem to know what they were doing or they didn't care. We got the boat only at 14:00. On reaching the hotel, we were made to wait for another 30 minutes as they didn't have any information about us. We asked for late check out 3 times and got negative answer with 3 different reasons. So I told them, I will check out at 12:00 but I started getting calls and knocks on the door from 11:00hrs inquiring if I'm ready for check out. All this with DND sign on door. In all, I recieved 3 calls, 1 bellboy asking for luggage pick up and 1 house keeper trying to open the door with DND sign on. On check out, duty manager Au was all apologetic but that was too little too late.

Aching to go back!
My stay was amazing! I was there for 6 nights, 7 days. I used the airport transfer service both ways and I would suggest it to anyone simply because it is foolproof and so easy. When I arrived in Phuket, I went outside the airport to the meeting location. I found the Santhiya rep and she found me a place to sit in the shade to wait for the van. I'd scheduled my transfer for 90 minutes after landing, just to make sure I'd be ok if there was a delay. I had my tablet, so the wait wasn't bad. The van arrived and I was given a cold bottle of water to drink inside. We drove to the marina and were taken to a small office to wait for the boat to be ready. Inside, we did all the check-in stuff, I was given my room number and other info. There were complimentary snacks, coffee, and tea and very relaxing music playing. Within about 15 minutes, the boat was ready. I was escorted to the boat, asked to wear a life jacket, and we set off. The ride was smooth and very Instagramable. Once at Santhiya, I was taken to the next check-in building. I was given a delicous (non alchoholic) welcome drink and the satff verified my spa bookings I'd made online. Next, I was given a map, a brief tour, & taken to my room. I loved the room & the staff. The spa was wonderful, and if you can get time with Kung, you won't regret it! Chantara was my favorite place for meals. Checkout was easy. There was a charge for a service I'd paid for online, but I had my email receipt and they fixed it easily. Loved it!!!

Very Good 8.0
Breathtaking view, disappointing service
The view from my deluxe sea view room was amazing - that was hands-down the highlight of my trip. The frontline staff were very polite and smiley but fell short solving problems or providing customer service - e.g. the reason I booked the resort was the soaking tub (something I haven't had in years) on the balcony. The water was green (rust could be seen inside faucets) and then it started making weird noises combined with electrical blasts of light. The 'engineer' told me not to use the hot water and it would be fixed upon my check-out. After complaining to reception and when settling my bill checking out - nothing was done. Another issue with the service was after booking on and realising I needed an island transfer an hour earlier than the hotel provided. The email response from the reservations manager was a suggestion to change my flight or book a private speedboat at 6,000 baht. At this point, I would have cancelled my reservation but the room was non-refundable. Expressing my desire to stay at the hotel but the prohibitive cost of the private boat, I asked if there were any other transfer options on the island that were safe and reliable - the manager did not even bother to respond. I found Koh Yao Travel online in the end and paid 1100 baht door to door. This was all a bit disappointing and left a bad taste in my mouth; I'll go elsewhere next time and recommend the same to friends/family.

Good 6.0
Setting and buildings: VERY beautiful. Staff: gracious. Cleanliness: impeccable. Food: quite good. Bad experience at the end left a sour taste. On return to the marina on the mainland PREPAID transport to take us to our next destination not available; staff disputed that booking had been made. Didn’t have printout of booking, and data/WiFi unavailable – had to threaten to call credit card co. and reverse settlement payment to hotel, before staff would book us a taxi. Lesson: have printouts of everything you have prepaid with this hotel – their internal comms and systems are very poor. We experienced this also in the checkout process, which took over ½ an hour and involved 4 people and piles of paper. And we were not querying anything on the bill… Don’t rely on the local knowledge of the staff: we were told there was no dive centre on the island, and had to find it ourselves on Google. The resort relies on a system of resort taxis that you call from your villa, as distances from villas to restaurants / the beach are considerable and the terrain hilly. Allow for 20-30 minute waits for these to arrive at your villa, and you will sometimes have to make follow-up calls: communication between those taking the calls from the villas and those dispatching the taxis are hit-and-miss.
