Very friendly and helpful owners. Comfy and secluded but still close to town.

close to night life and cheap
Very outdated, but it did its job. For the price, I cannot complain.

Great stay in small and intimate hotel
Karen, the hotel owner, is very sweet and accommodating. She warmly welcomed us and checked on us periodically to ensure our comfort. The room was spacious, clean and well-decorated.the hotel is close to the downtown area yet far enough to be quiet when you want it so. The small pool is clean and refreshing. Karen takes pride in caring for her small 6-room hotel and loves what she does. It shows as you move about the grounds.

Less is more is not always the best philosophy
Like they say- don’t trust the pictures. The pool is an oversized bath 2.5m x 1.3 m (and needed chlorine). There is no reception so 6 “rooms” fledging for themselves using a shared kitchen. The room was so small our two backpacks and the bed took up 90% of the room- literally couldn’t even fit a chair. Plus the bed (which was two twins joined as a king) touched 3 walls. Hot water and bathroom was fine. I have travelled to 44 countries and this is my second trip to Costa Rica and this is by far one of the worst value for money hotels I have even stayed in. We paid $100 and $90 US per night, it is closer to $30-50 per night. Our saving grace was that there was a great sense of community with the other guests we made friends and shared drinks with whilst staying. We will be back to Tamarindo but will not be back to this hotel.
