Good location and common room
The common room was nice. The hotel should have an aerosol spray for the shared rooms with other people. In the winter no windows are open and it can get smelly in the room with strangers. Kitchen was well equipped.

Very nice, back in college again
... But cleaner and more modern! I stayed in the 8 BR women's room. Each bed had a power socket, though my upper bunk lacked a light as promised online. There was also very little head clearance to get into the bed. Finally, no AC or fan as seems to be traditional in Germany, so the windows stayed open all night. Neighborhood was cool- nice scenery and good shops nearby. Staff was friendly and spoke English. This was my first hostel stay so I did not know what to expect- but, I was pleased with the look and feel, the bar, and auditorium below. Cards were required for entry everywhere- to the elevator, room block, toilet, showers, bedrooms and I believe to the canteen as well. Lights in the room only stayed on if a keycard was in the light switch slot. And the best part was that a single night cost me $25.

Good overall value stay, with a caveat
Hostel is in a pretty good location, nearly immediately next to both the train station and central Frankfurt attractions, although with one turn and a few steps you could find yourself in a decidedly rougher-feeling, quasi-red light district. Can't blame the hostel for that though, and it's easily avoided. Beds are comfortable and rooms and bathrooms are clean, like really clean. Nice common area and kitchen, although the kitchen is lacking an oven and stove-top burners, and there's no electric burner, so baking and boiling are out, except for hot drinks and cup noodle-like foods. The caveat I mentioned in the title is Internet. My experience may have differed from others, as I did see other people browsing and the like, but I found the wifi to painfully slow, like do a search and go away for a few minutes, then open a result and go away while it loads, etc. It did improve later in the evening, maybe because of fewer people? Still, I think it would have been difficult to book a hotel/hostel with the speeds I experienced. Fortunately there is Starb_cks nearby, towards the train station, so better Intenet is nearby for those who need it. It is also possible that not everyone was so affected. In any case, overall a solid place. Although it's not a knock on the hostel, I would definitely suggest people consider the smaller, quieter dorms if a good night's sleep is essential. Just my 2 cents.
