Fantastic place to stay outside of Edinburgh
Our visit to Edinburgh happened to coincide with the Royal Highland Show, which made finding a place to stay in the city for a reasonable price at the last minute impossible (completely our fault, we know). Fortunately, we found Fairshiels, which was just a 30-minute drive from the city center. Anne welcomed us warmly upon arrival and quickly got us settled. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, and the communal bathroom was incredibly clean. We made use of the living room for a bit, which had an old piano that was fun to play. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and we had nice conversations with the other guests. Because we were traveling on a motorcycle, Anne brought up the East Fortune Race that was happening nearby, and we actually changed our itinerary to check it out, which was well worth it. We were grateful for the kindness and hospitality and would definitely stay here again.

Best of both worlds
Quaint little hamlet on the road behind the B&B. A wonderful walk up to the top of the moor across the street. Beautifully decorated & updated old Inn. Bus stop across the street for a trip to Edinburgh, or a short drive to the car park to catch a city bus ( not wanting to drive in the city, this was a plus). Warm, friendly, helpful, hostess who seems to enjoy people. An excellent cooked to order breakfast, with eggs fresh from her mom's farm. The heavy stone walls blocked out much of the road noise which let up during the night. ( being on the A68 i had been concerned about this,) Excellent value. Was glad we got to spend at least 2 nights here. Would stay here again.

Loved it!
One of our favorite places to stay this trip! It was beautiful and the owner made us feel very welcome and at home. Wished we would have stayed longer!
