In need of a revamp!
Needs a serious amount of money thrown at it to improve the standard of the whole pub. Location is fantastic which is why it still gets people visiting.

Very disappointing
Very disappointing. Standard room but bathroom didn’t seem very clean, door was very stiff to shut and no shower products. Towels were dreadful - definitely seen better days. Nice to have a bottle of water left in the room though. Couldn’t have breakfast until the chef arrived at 9 - not good when you are trying to catch a train. Rushed a poor breakfast with one mug of tea to drink. No fruit juice. Shame as the staff were friendly and we’re trying hard. At least we had free parking but had to drive to the station and pay as we were worried we would be late after waiting for breakfast. A very run down pub which was empty and locked up by 10pm.

Awfull place, stay clear!
Terrible experience. Booked a double bed and arrived to 2 singles. When I moved one bed over to make a double the carpet underneath was wet and this explained the damp and musty smell in the room. There was no water glass or drinking water and furthermore no soap or shower gel provided. I find it hard that this hotel can justify almost £100 per night for such grotty accommodation with very poor facilities. Prior to stay I tried to contact the hotel (using main phone number as given by to arrange key to be left due to late arrival and left 2 voicemails with no response so had to source a mobile number from Facebook to finally get an answer. Save your money and book elsewhere would be my advice.

The room was comfortable. No hairdryer and no shower gel. The pub itself could do with a bit of tidying up… crumbs on the table and used glasses on the bar when we had breakfast.

2/10 Poor

I paid to stay at this property mid December and on arrival in the morning, no one was there. I was completed stranded and to date the owner has still not returned my emails, calls or refunded my money for a two night stay. No customer service at all.

Could be improved
The room was very dark. One window next to the door but the blind had to stay down or anyone passing could see right in. The towels and the sheets did not seem freshly washed and the hot water was more luke warm than hot. Pleasantly decorated room but not much space and not the sort of room you would want to spend too much time in. Good location in Cookham and convenient car parking.
