Not too comfortable stay in Chinatown NYC
My boyfriend and I wanted a quick getaway for our anniversary. The area of the hotel was normal for NYC I didn’t expect much. When arriving at the hotel the lobby was nice kind of plain. Once we reached the room it was tiny but expected it is NY. The only complaint I have on the room was they only gave us 2 pillows that were flat as ever. We had to requests for more which took forever for them to bring us when we asked for them at the front desk. The air conditioned was kind of weird. One night I got too cold so we turned it off. Then I got hot again so we turned it on. It didn’t turn back on for another 4 hours. Didn’t like that at all. The location was okay not too far from Times Square or Harlem. If you want something in your budget stay there if not find another hotel

Tiny Room, big Prices
The on line picture had nothing to do with the room I stayed in which was so small, it gave me a panic attack. Great neighborhood and right on top of the subway.

Small, clean, safe hotel - nice staff
When I search site for hotels in Manhattan, I seek cleanliness, location, value and a decent rating. On this visit, needed to be near SoHo and Tribeca. It’s nice to get out of midtown. My room was tiny, clean and basic. I felt safe and secure in hotel. Front desk staff (someone working 24/7) was great. Stayed 3 days and saw the same two people. Both very pleasant and professional (the night guy and day woman). Location has it’s good and bad points. I was a man traveling and staying alone. I like “gritty city” but if I were a woman alone or an elederly couple? Maybe less “city charm” than I might want. Best part of location is that hotel is basically right at center of SoHo, Tribeca, Chinatown, Little Italy. Can walk all easily. There is also a Subway station RIGHT at front door (steps 10 feet from door). Subway is busy, there are street vendors right on the block and beyond. Canal Street isn’t charming but it’s convenient and there is lots of interesting and charming nearby. I walk. I walked to/through Lower Manhattan, to and across Brooklyn Bridge, Greenwich Village, SoHo, Tribeca, up toward Midtown, etc ... so for me, it worked. I felt safe at night, but I’m a guy. Traffic lighter at night, street less populated (which makes one feel less safe), all the street vendors gone, shops shuttered for night ... It was fine for me because without that one downside ... I’d be paying $100-200 more per night at least.

Clean, good location, can't control AC
Let me start by saying the hotel is very clean, and the staff are very nice and responsive. I will rate it a 3, however, mostly because they provide no effective way to control the air conditioning in your room. My room was set to 72, which is fine during the day. But I like it colder at night. The desk attendant explained that I could simply call at bedtime, and he could set the temperature lower from the desk. Unfortunately, after several calls and attempts to do this, nothing changed. I slept with windows open one night -- over the intersection of Canal and Broadway; suffice to say was awakened a lot. So, if you are fastidious about controlling the temp in your room, and don't like loud street noise, this may not be the place for you. Also note that there is no gym, and oddly, my room contained two single (called 'twin') beds, rather than one larger double or queen. I won't be back; but if you're looking for a discounted room in a good location and don't mind being a little warm and/or it being a bit noisy, this could work for you. It is CLEAN. No issues there.

Great value
This hotel is an excellent value. Can't get more convenient for a downtown stay as it's just steps from the subway. Bed was comfortable, and there were nice little amenities like free wifi and in-room coffee. The room felt a bit worn, but pretty clean overall. It's a noisy neighborhood and noise in the room would likely bother some more than it bothered me.
