Nothing seems to work properly!
Arrived at hotel to discover no parking as advertised so had to spend additional £30 for pay & display car park for the evening. Got to first room and realised AC wasn't working. Went to desk and was assured that they would reset the AC from their computer. Went back up to room and room key didn't work, went back to desk to get it reset. I was told if AC didn't work to call front desk from the room... but not from the phone in the room as this wasn't working either. Got to room and AC still wasn't working after being reset. Called front desk from my mobile but no one answered!! Went back to desk and requested room move. Went to 2nd room and discovered that AC also wasn't working in this room Went back to front desk and was given a 3rd room. Went to 3rd room and AC worked! Went to original 1st room to collect bags. Room key didn't work! Back to desk to get room key reset so I could collect bags. Finally got to my 3rd room to sit down 1hr 20 minutes after originally arriving at the hotel. The staff did try to resolve the issues, offered a free upgrade and were very apologetic. But overall the hotel, which is clean and modern, didn't seem to have very reliable infrastructure.

Clayton hotel
The Clayton hotel is in a very convenient location. It is by the main train stations which is a 5 -8 minute walk away and you enter the High Street within 3 minutes. The hotel is large, can accommodate a large number of guests, as it has many rooms. It has a bar which is relatively inexpensive for drinks and the restaurant for food which I thought was expensive. Its the room service however which is confusing, outdated, and very expensive. For two cokes, one portion of fries and two sandwiches I was going to be charged £42. I really don’t know how they can justify this price? So I went to bed, hungry Which is annoying. It seems there are many menus, some of which are outdated and not replaced, there is a room, service menu and another hotel, restaurant menu and you can’t combine the two. I went to reception and after a lot of confusion, a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and phone calls, I received a menu, this process would’ve been easier had the phone worked in my room. Both the bar and reception staff seem inefficient or inadequate. To tackle the amount of visitors they had. There are many times where you just stand waiting hoping for service. The rooms are spacious, however, my telephone didn’t work, and when I tried to pick it up, it’s stuck to my fingers with a sticky residue, and I also couldn’t operate in room safe. Whether it was working or it was my error, I never clearly understood as there are no instructions. Apart from these things, rooms were nice .

Great Stay - Excellent Room - Polite staff
It was a great stay. The hotel was nice. Staff at reception were courteous and quick to attend to us. Just one observation to better - I had an issue that required hotel staff to come up to check the night before checkout - the never happened until checkout (despite me coming down and reminding). Could always use more Vegeterian/Vegan options in Breakfast for the 15quid we put in.
