Exceptional 10.0
It is one of the best hotel so far in Bangkok i have stayed in. It is close to the train station, right next to Phloen Chit BTS station. Extremely convenient. Very courteous staffs. Reception on arrival is a brisk. Room is very spacious. We were lucky to be upgraded to a suite for our 5 days stay. Bed is very comfortable. Washroom is clean with a bath tub. Room is equipped with all necessities needed. Hence, no complaints. Breakfast was superb with selection of usual buffet type or Japanese breakfast. The Swimming pool isn’t that big but it’s located at high floor with excellent view. Gym is pretty well equipped. Really nothing much to fault. Wish if i could have spent more time in this above the class hotel.

3 to 4 star hotel
The hotel from the outside looks lavish and welcoming. However, having spent 11 nights in Hua Hin and coming here it feels a millions miles away. The staff and customer service we received in our hotel in hua hin was exceptional. Here it lacks the ooomth, not as welcoming and you have to say sawadi-cup (hello) to the staff before you get one back. Completely different to what we are used to ie the hotel staff approaching you and asking how you are doing or just a simple hello or how are you sir etc. Overall, the rooms look dated, the carpet smell of damp and even though we are on the 27th floor it's considerably noisy (not as sound proof as you would expect). I booked this hotel for the pool view and the facilities that came with it. However, having come with my girlfriend for our first year anniversary and what a great way to end the holiday by relaxing in the steam room & sauna together as a couple. I was shocked when I was told the facilities were for separate use ie men in one section and women in the other. Totally wrong and must say that it has ruined our last night in this beautiful country. To summarise I would not return to this hotel, would not be recommending to friends and colleagues and it certainly is not a 5 star, more along the lines of a 4 star hotel.

Very Good 8.0
This was our 3rd stay at The Okura Prestige. It has the best location of any hotel in the city and it’s rooms are so well and tastefully designed its usually my first choice in Bangkok. However this stay wasn’t quite as perfect as previous visits - the WiFi was very bad (at times almost useless); the room was starting to show its tiredness with damaged wallpaper etc and needs a referb now (3120). Also: on our final night the hotel turned all the electricity off for 5 hours or so. Whilst we were aware there would be limited electricity when we booked we were not advised there would be no A/C until a letter arrived in our room that very day. A hotel 10 times cheaper than this would still ensure to offer AC all night in the “hottest city in the world” to their guests - this is the one minimum mandatory service required in Bangkok! So needless to say we had a really bad night’s sleep in the heat of the last night of our stay. On my past two stays it was worth it to spend the extra $100+ a night for the Okura rather than Conrad, Grand Hyatt etc however this time it was not. Hopefully they improve these small standards again to justify the premium pricing or will be forced to drop their room rate into line with almost all other 5* properties in BKK.

Staff on club floor underwhelming
Having travelled extensively and stayed at many hotels on club floors for the price of this hotels club rooms I wouldn’t recommend. Nice hotel, great breakfast but staff on general floors seem more confident and courteous than the club level. At $450 Aus a night I would have expected a lot more for my money. No senior staff in club lounge and I felt the service was tailored to the demanding guests. No late check out permitted and not very helpful staff on the front desk in lounge. Pool area needs maintenance and was not approached by any staff member with either water or asked if we wanted to order food not 5 star and knowing how Japenese service is this hotel wasn’t authentic. Staff at general reception and doorman were lovely. I definitely wouldn’t pay the extra again for a club floor and would probably stay elsewhere.

A Good Family Hotel in Bangkok
The three of us stayed in a Corner Deluxe room. Overall, we enjoyed it. The Pros: - Convenient location. It's right next to a Phloen Chit Skytrain station, so easy to get around. There are 2 dept stores near it, Central Embassy (high end) and Central Chitlom, where you can find good restaurants and shops. - Nice room. The room as spacious, and the beds were comfortable and the boy got his own extra bed which we asked the hotel to set up in advance. Everything worked just fine and it's rather quiet at night (perhaps our room was in the corner) - Friendly staff, especially the concierge at the entrance. The Cons: - The reception is on the 24th Floor, which means the guests need to change elevators to get to the rooms. - Some taxi drivers did not know the hotel and we got refused by a few of them when we were making our way back from other parts of town. Perhaps it would help if we brought with us the hotel taxi card.
