Funky and romantic
Lots of steps, so don't stay if you have a problem with stairs. Great place if you like walking! Walk down pier for great food, walk down the beach on Main St or to the Boardwalk for games. The view from our balcony (shared) was worth the stay.

Boardwalk and Wharf Across the Street
Every time I've ever visited the Santa Cruz area, it is usually sunny and warm. It rained during our stay. This was my wife's first ever visit to Santa Cruz. Despite the rain we enjoyed the view the room offered and the over all, cozy feel of the room. Some normal maintenance issues did exist, all too minor to mention. Our room was one of the closest rooms to the beach.Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Wharf are right across the street. We definitely heard the waves all day and night, even over the sound of the rain. Very relaxing. This hotel stay was much needed, much appreciated and we would like to return to enjoy a stay in one of their rooms with a fireplace. Also, they do allow pets, with deposit of course. Maybe we will bring ours next time.

Excellent location and comfortable hotel
We reserved a family room (King bed and sofa bed). We were pleasantly surprised with a small apartment sized area with kitchen and dining nook and a private balcony patio with a partial ocean view. It was perfect. Property is old and historic and a little funky but location is great. Walking distance to downtown Santa Cruz and West Cliff Dr. and across the street from Main Beach, the Boardwalk, and the Wharf. We parked our car and walked everywhere all weekend. Thai restaurant and small lively bar on the premises. Continental breakfast is not much (bananas, apples, tiny pastries, coffee, water and orange juice) on a tiny table in reception area but plenty of breakfast options within walking distance. Overall--had a great stay!
