Hotel Isla del Encanto, Baru Island
Very Good8.0
Could be Paradise
Beautiful property with very poor management and outdated nonsense policies. (If you lose your beach towel, they will charge you for it / If you like to have bottled water as per your all inclusive plans, they will refuse and make you walk to the restaurant to get iced water / booking includes 1 free boat ride to Playa Azul - neighboring island - the most beautiful beach around Baru - but they won't tell you till your 3rd day, so you will book other paid day trips. / Save yourself the money and disappointment as their snorkeling trip is a joke, dead coral reefs, no fish in site, crowded with screaming children, it's a tourist trap.) In case of emergency there is no doctor on site, and management has very little concern about guests well being in case of an accident. A la carte dinner (for all inclusive hotel guests only, day trippers eat at the buffet) was fresh and well prepared. lot's of fresh seafood, good meat and fruits and fresh juices. Alcohol is not included. Chef is very nice and accommodating. We appreciated every dinner considering all ingredients have to be delivered daily to island. Ask for S&P and condiments prior to dinner, because kitchen is far away, your food will get cold by the time they bring it to your table. Housekeeping is efficient, premium linens, nice large rooms, however bathrooms windows are not fully covered, so get ready for mosquito's. Beach is nice and kept clean, really enjoyable after 3 pm, when day trippers are leaving the island.

Hotel Isla del Encanto, Baru Island
Our family was enchanted with Isla del Encanto
This place was wonderful! Because it is a smaller resort, it felt really intimate and my kids were right at home. The resort does allow day trips and so, between 10:30 and 3:00pm, the place can get a bit busy. However, the resort does set aside eating and relaxing areas for the overnight guests, which is appreciated. The cocktails and juices were really tasty, if a bit expensive. The resort should publish the prices, and perhaps think about providing a few free refreshments each day for guests. The food was very good however. The staff was really wonderful. Carlos and Molina made extra efforts to make us and our kids feel really welcome. It is true that the boatride there and back is long (and you might get wet if it is a windy day - so wear clothes that can tolerate a spray and put your wallet and electronic devices in plastic) I would go back in a heartbeat!
