Great house to stay in Cartagena
Nice house, great service and near everything! The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Dona Marta and Karina were always there to help us in any way they could. Very nice people!

The woman who runs this hotel might be one of the nicest women in Cartagena. She was amazing- made us feel completely at home! This is not actually in the proper walled city, but it is still an AMAZING area and is a 5 minute walk to the main area. Also, the pool is very tiny- a few feet wide and does not have the traditional US Style Swim up bar, as you are likely thinking of it. This is a "room" in a house style hotel. I think there were only 3 rooms, so you are really staying more like in a guest house, with a private room and bath. You have to ring the buzzer to get back inside, and it is VERY quiet inside. It is lovely, but just be aware of those factors. Not a traditional hotel. Again, the woman running the house is absolutely amazing. Very clean and comfortable beds!

Old charm but noisey
The place is very old and has its charm, but could have been cleaner, street is noisy due to the location is very close to the square which is full of people drinking at night and partying. Pool is not even a pool. Just an oversized bathtub. No swim up bar, coffee, snacks as described on the website. Lady is very nice. It is just a house with 2 guest bedrooms. Definitely not a hotel. The door to get in you need to ring a buzzer every time, which becomes a pain in the butt. Sometimes they dont hear the buzzer so you could be outside for awhile.

Nice guest house
This is more like a guest house - huge room, private bathroom, and there are only a couple of guest rooms in the house. Wifi was good, cold drinking water was available. In a busy neighborhood - quiet by midnight, lots to see and do.

Good news and bad news. The good news. Casa Marta is honourable. After we left, extremely disappointed, after one night of a three night booking, it did not seek to charge more than the one night. The other good news is that it is right in the centre of the Centro Historico, with two windows, so you do not hear the noise. The bad news. The place is a dump. It charges what nearby 2.5 - 3 star places charge, but it is no more that 1 star. The air conditioner in our room was the slowest in Colombia and took an hour to cool the room. There was no hot water and the towels were certainly not the fluffy ones in the pictures. (The towels provided were serviceable, but we resented being misled.) The swimming pools is miniscule. The main breakfast dish was some inedible deep fried egg dish. It had a crust on it that the military would be interested in. The management does not speak English, but communicates sort of OK using a phone app. In short, it presents on the website as an upmarket, boutique home stay. That is definitely not the opinion we formed.
