Nice rooms, very good food (best full English breakfast I have eaten), fantastic pub with actual locals.

Lovely stay at Northey Arms
Lovely stay at the Northey Arms. We stayed in a family room that is separate from the inn. That was fine but if one is set on staying in the main building, it would be worth confirming location of reserved room. Lovely, modern decor that was comfortable. The room backs up to railroad tracks that can be noisy but with window closed was just fine. Staff very accommodating and brought a fan to room for hot husband! Full breakfast in morning; delicious and filling.

Hour and a half wait and still awaiting breakfast
Paid for breakfast with the room, ordered a cooked breakfast and a hour and 15 minutes later it still hadn't arrived. My partners omletter arrived after 45 minutes. This amount of time cut into our time enjoying the room which was lovely as we had to check out... very very disappointing. When checking out I mentioned the breakfast and they refunded one breakfast. Basically after a hour and 15 minutes of leaving me waiting they offered the money back for this which is rediculous. More should have been offered...

If you plan to sleep, then forget about it!
The food is of a high standard and the wine selection is excellent. However this is where my review stops being nice. After staying here for roughly 6 times since July, I’ve had a varied experience, and its gotten worse. The last time I stayed here, I noticed that the noise from downstairs in the restaurant/bar was the loudest it has ever been. I’m not sure if they’ve gotten a new sound system or what, but the booming of the music into the rooms was unbearable. I ended up spending most nights with my headphones in. Not great when you’re needing to sleep! Appreciating that they run both a restaurant and a guesthouse, I decided to ask for an outside room this time. Where it would be quieter and away from the main building. Request denied - instead I got a room right above the kitchen, where the music was at its loudest and had to compete with the noise of the kitchen staff banging about with their pots and pans. After trying to ring down to reception about the nose, I realised my phone was a dead dial tone. Great! I left a note for the manager complaining about the noise. However, after returning to my room that evening - nothing had been done and the music was back to its usual volume by 8.30pm. Horrific way to treat guests who spend hundreds a week to stay in your rooms. Its one thing to ignore my outside request but a disrespectful way to act when asked you to turn down the music a bit so your guests can sleep. Won't be returning & I don't recommend here!
