Home away from home!
My sister and I spent 5 nights at the Casona de la Ronda and loved every minute of our stay. The hotel is within walking distance of most of the historic sights and is in a very safe street with small stores and restaurants. After busy days, it was wonderful to sit in the lovely living room area, sip wine and enjoy meeting fellow travelers. The wood fire made the area so inviting. The staff were wonderful, especially, Maria Salem, the hotel's marketing manager. Her language skills, her commitment to guests' comfort, her local knowledge and pride in her city, enriched our visit. All in all, our experience was wonderful.

Nice Boutique Hotel in Historic Quito
Great location, attentive staff, nicely appointed rooms with modern baths and restaurant serving Ecuadorian cuisine. Also very safe. Police office is just down the street and they are constantly patrolling.

Fabulous place to stay
From first walking in the door, we knew we would love this hotel. The staff was very accomodating, the decor welcoming and the room nicely appointed. Loved the open atrium area. The restaurant had great food and service. Maria was expecially helpful in arranging a tour for us. Wouldn't change a thing except we wish we had stayed longer.

Beautiful hotel with resolvable problems
I want to give La Casona de la Ronda a 5 star review because it is a beautiful hotel with clean rooms, comfortable furnishings and an accommodating staff. We stayed twice. Once was before our Galapagos trip and the other was after. Our first room was on the street side and we could not sleep due to barking dogs, police sirens, loud conversations and garbage pick up. Ear plugs were no help. The noise was unrelenting and we began our Galapagos tour horribly sleep deprived. We asked for a quiet room for the second visit and it was wonderful, a completely different experience. If you are wondering why we went back, it was due to being unable to change accommodations easily while on our tour. We had no phone with us. One thing to keep in mind is that both times we took taxis from the airport, no one in the cab line knew about this hotel. Be prepared with not only the name, but a complete address and phone number. The last issue was due to our own lack of planning. We didn't know that it cost between 26 - 30 dollars one way from the airport to the old town area. If so, we would have stayed at this hotel when arriving since we wanted to see a bit of old town Quito and nearer to the airport on the way back. However, if we had done so we would not have a pleasant experience to share at the La Casona de la Ronda.
