Home away from home
The Arlo Nomad is my home away from home in NYC! I work in the Empire State Building so the location is great. Near to Nomad area too, which is nice for shopping and eating. The rooms are *very* small but nicely designed and always very clean. The lobby is nice and the upstairs library room is BEAUTIFUL. The service level is not like a fancier hotel, sometimes they seem very busy and it's not quite as buttoned up, but the staff is always really nice and treats you personally so the few times I've had an issue they've always been great about sorting it out. I think the Arlo chain is a hidden gem.

Convenient, no frills, best for short stays
Convenient location and great staff downstairs. Overall no frills for the rooms and very small, even upgraded rooms, quick paint jobs (wall paint on shelves and closet in my room, which isn't an issue but just a bit sloppy overall). Elevator is slow - which is fine, and expected in a lot of NYC buildings - but guests were complaining regularly every time I was in the elevator so plan accordingly. Rooms are very tiny and not well set up - shower curtain not sized right so the bathroom floods when the water is on; easy to bump into closet/shelves and difficult to walk around the bed. Also doesn't seem like there is housekeeping regularly, maybe it has to be requested. Works well for a short stay crash pad but not ideal if you're looking to spend time in the hotel. Small conveniences like water in the rooms, cups, etc. would go a long way.
