Nice location
The hotel is in a good location and is well maintained. The restaurant is nice but the breakfast buffet was priced high and the selections not that great. We couldn't get WiFi to work. Also we missed some cultural attractions because they didn't make us aware of the opportunities available upon check-in.

Stay at a different hotel
Worst food, coffee and service that we've experienced in 12 days traveling Australia. Bed was uncomfortable and the sheets felt like plastic. No wonder this was the only hotel in the area with vacancy. ugh!

Great atmosphere, great staff, great area
Rooms a bit pricey but could be seasonal, although there isn't that many alternatives to stay around Uluru. Clean, large room, looked a bit outdated but we were there for the sightseeing so didn't spend that much time in the room. What was fun is you can order meat and other food from the place and right there toss it on the barbie, and buy a beer right next door. They have another restaurant as well where you can sit and dine. Overall, staff is very friendly and helpful. No issues getting sightseeings booked. Just make sure you're on time when the bus is there. They may leave without you, even the bus to the airport ! Several look out points around the hotel, from where you can see the mountain ranges, incl Uluru.

Horrible Motel, Horrible Experience!
This hotel ruined my experience of what is probably one of the most gorgeous locations on earth - Ayers Rock/Uluru. The Accor Hotels chain has created the Ayers Rock Resort with four housing options all owned by them, and (surprise, surpise!) they're all horribly overpriced. Outback Pioneer was the least expensive option offered by Accor, which is why I booked it, but this was my worst hotel experience in my entire trip to Australia - and perhaps anywhere ever. Outback Pioneer is basically a two-star motel, very overpriced, with cheap furniture and hard, uncomfortable beds. The rooms have electrical problems, so flashing lights and smoke detectors strobe all night and keep waking you up. The hotel staff couldn't figure out how to fix the flashing light on my phone, so we finally just unplugged it. The staff themselves are a mixed bag - some quite nice and some very surly and unpleasant. Wi-fi in this hotel is very slow and unreliable. And the food in their main restaurant was grotesquely overpriced and truly disgusting. Breakfast, featuring cold scrambled eggs and cold pancakes, will cost you a whopping $35. I think this is one of the reasons why monopolies are outlawed (at least here in the US). This is exactly what happens when you have a monopoly on a location. Unfortunately, you're stuck booking an Accor Hotel if you want to see Ayers Rock, as they own the entire place. (Why, Australia???) But try to avoid this hotel if you can.
