Very enjoyable

Good hotel experience
The room was great, very clean and had a great staff. The hotel atmosphere lived up to its pictures with a lovely sitting room and restaurant. My only complaint is that it was a little loud due to order, thin walls which made it hard to sleep in.

Good with minor design issues
Generally good. The room was very dark though, and strange not to have outlets next to the bed. Also there is no coffee maker in the room! I would much rather have that than fancy food to purchase in the minibar.

Not Ideal If You Want To Sleep
Charming decor, great location and nice staff. There were technical difficulties at check-in and hotel staff comped our parking, which was really nice. However, I think we had the worst room in the hotel: ground floor next to the restaurant. Alley dumpster right next to our window and walls so thin we could hear folks upstairs partying all night. No temperature controls in room and it was hot and stuffy. After a sleepless night, we dozed off briefly in the early morning before breakfast prep started in the kitchen. We could literally hear the chopping. We loved that it was in a cool and walkable area, the Hart and the Hunter has fantastic food, and the common areas are hip and comfortable, but no sleep is a deal-breaker.

Don't walk away from Palihotel Melrose, RUN!!!
Truly a horrible experience! Checked in to find the queen sized bed I reserved and paid for was really two twins. Was told that that was all they had and was stuck because I only had a few hours to visit with my brother. Returned to the room after dinner to find that the room doesn't have enough light to get it over a cave like setting. Trying to go to sleep my room had to be close to 80 degrees. Couldn't find a thermostat so I went to the front desk. Was shocked to enter a lobby with all of the lights out except a small light under the counter and a couple of safety lights in the adjoining cafe. I literally said out loud "what the he.." when a voice in a dark corner asked if they could help me. Startled, I was told that each floors temperature is controlled by one thermostat not each room. Was told that a guest had said they were cold they would see what they could do to turn the heat down. After arguing for two or three minute she agreed to turn the heat down. Was awakened several times during the night with the room 75-80 degrees. Check out seemed to be an imposition for the unfriendly staff that was busy stuffing his face with yogurt and bananas or texting on their cell phone! Don't waste your time or money on this place, RUN!
