Reasonable option close to the Lake District
Brief stay as kicking off point for the English Lake District. Good location, good food, wonderful countryside, quiet. Fine for families (although it is a pub). Staff were very pleasant and helpful. They smiled a lot. The room (3 people) was clean & comfortable with a nice bathroom and good big towels.

excellent overnight stay
Exactly as described. We arrived late following a 5 hour drive in terrible weather but the staff were ready and waiting for us and showed us to our room without delay. The room was large and roomy. Decor a little chinsey but fits perfectly with the surroundings so it gives the room character. Beds were comfy and we all had a good nights sleep. Breakfast the following morning was great - plenty of choice, both hot and cold options. I would stay here again if in this past of the country.

Convenient and pleasant hotel
The pros are: pleasant staff, good breakfast, comfortable bed, reasonable price, free parking, quiet The cons are: it's on a very busy corner but, fortunately, we were at the back, however that meant we didn't have a view, the bar was very busy on Sunday when we arrived and the way from the car park to the rooms is through the bar.

milnthorpe cross keys - dont stay
The stay was ok loved the area but won't be staying at this hotel again. The cottage we were staying in which was part of the hotel was small and located near a sitting/smoking area, which is fine if theres no one out there smoking and tallking loudly. the bathroom door didnt lock and the toilet leaked when it was flushed so we were putting towels on the floor and ledge to soak up water until it was fixed the 3rd day in to our stay. The staff at cross keys were not exactly welcoming and seemed to be a chore to do any thing for you other than the girl who checked us in. The landlord was i thought rude and unapproachable on our first night especially when we had a problem with the pool table and on checking out alls we got was a thanks for handing the keys over, no did you enjoy your stay or thanks for staying with us absolute no people skills whats so ever.
