Reasonable option close to the Lake District
Brief stay as kicking off point for the English Lake District. Good location, good food, wonderful countryside, quiet. Fine for families (although it is a pub). Staff were very pleasant and helpful. They smiled a lot. The room (3 people) was clean & comfortable with a nice bathroom and good big towels.

Comfortable, clean and excellent service. Breakfast was great. Our only complaint is that the TV screens and monitors in rooms and bars are mounted a little high for comfortable watching.

A great overnight stay
We are a retired couple on holiday from Australia. Months before leaving home we had booked a night’s accommodation here. At the time, reviews were reasonable. The day before we were due to arrive, we had a look at more recent reviews and were dismayed to see that many were quite negative. So, it was with a little trepidation that we checked in. We needn’t have been concerned. Everything about our stay here was excellent! Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were welcoming and accommodating. The hotel simply oozed atmosphere. We enjoyed a drink in the bar and had a great pub meal that night. The next morning’s breakfast was one of the best we’ve enjoyed, all cooked to order. Would highly recommend.

Would not book again
Odd shaped room with no window in the main part of the room. Décor and furnishings tired and dated with one very thin pillow. Sunday night karaoke in the bar downstairs going full volume all evening. We didn't even stay for the breakfast.

Very Good8.0
Great location, has all you need
Hotel was in a good location, close to the deer park which is superb for walking. The room had everything we needed, including a fan. Claire very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good (although they had run out of hash browns) -as long as you don’t mind the entertainment of the loud singing chef coming from the kitchen - his repertoire is mainly Frank Sinatra songs! Try No 17, amazing restaurant just a few doors down. Delicious food and a fantastic cocktail menu - I highly recommend the toffee lemon Bon Bon!
