Nice peaceful pub
We stayed for one night to break a journey. The location is lovely and beer garden by the river so relaxing. The room was perfectly adequate - comfy new beds (but the barthroom could do with an update). We had a meal in the restaurant and had an issue with a 90 minute wait for food which was dealt with politely and efficiently by the bar staff, but I was disappointed with the attitude of the proprietor, who chose not to acknowledge me when I went to the bar to pay. His attitude was the same the following morning when I checked out - he thanked me for the room key but chose not to ask how our stay had been, or mention the previous evening's complaint. All in all, lovely little pub but the owners need to work on their custmer service.

Lovely friendly B&B with fantastic food.
Great stay at the Anchor Inn. Lovely hosts and fantastic food with huge portions. Scenery was beautiful although location a bit remote and not close to any major towns.

Once and definitely once only!
I booked this hotel because of good reviews, I wish I hadn't! The room had a bed that had wooden sides up to the top level of the mattress so when you turned over you hit yourself on the wood. Apart from the mirror above the sink there wasn't a mirror in the bedroom so especially for the ladies doing hair etc was difficult. We were woken up at 1am by the fire alarm going off, all the guests assembled outside but the only member of staff we saw was someone in a room on a table trying to turn the alarm off. When it was turned off no-one told us it was a false alarm and no-one asked if any of the guests were ok. In the morning nothing was mentioned. When we arrived we asked about breakfast time ( 8am to 9am ) but was told not to leave it too late as they had a busy day ahead. The only words spoken to us in the morning were "Full English ?", which we ordered. When the breakfast arrived they were plonked down in front of us without a word. Another guest asked if they could have certain items instead of a Full English and were told "No as we have a busy day ahead".....pity they didn't concentrate on the guests they had! We wont be returning.
