It Grew on Me - 5/5
Stayed here for three nights. The breakfast was phenomenal. It definitely held me over until I had a late lunch. There was a lot of variety and amazing fresh fruit. The desk staff gave great recommendations for activities to do. The rooms are wood paneled all over. It has a nice seating area where you can open the windows. My knocks on it would be the parking and the lack of a fan/air conditioning in the room. The area gets cool at night Andy we visited at the beginning of May however I don’t know if it can get humid/hotter at any other points of the season. This hotel like many in Costa Rica operates under the conservation program when it comes to linens so getting extra bath towels is difficult And we did a lot of activities where we just returned covered in mud/dust. The shower is quite large and the water gets hot both great things bc after a day of hiking 10+ miles you want to get clean. The rooms are split throughout the hotel. We had room 10 which is actually through the dining area with room 9. There are other rooms 10+ that are a short walk up a stoned path adjacent to the main part of the hotel. Definitely a 5/5 especially for the area and it’s amenities. At first the wood paneling alarmed me but I realized after a night’s sleep it’s part of the charm of the hotel.

Remote and quiet area
Can't be closer to Monteverde. Nice wooden deco. Road to the town was closed for the day, so we left via San Luis (4x4 recommended, very nice landscape, Waze or Mymaps required, about 35min). However, the rooms may be cold at nights. (no heater)

I have been traveling to Costa Rica for 20+ years and had avoided Monteverde thus far as I was wanting to avoid crowds and tourist meccas. While Monteverde is busy still you would never know while staying here. I just checked out today and still astounded at what a great job they did to give you an amazing comfortable stay but still have a great local feel of being outside with nature. Yes the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors, but you are only in the room to sleep. Yes the road is rough, but welcome to Costa Rica. It is a long walk to some of the rooms but it offers zero noise from vehicles. Truly an amazing experience!
