Get what you pay for
You get exactly what you pay for with Sapa Eden. Airport transfer to and from Lao Cai was $3 per person each way. Pick up was smooth, though they really pack the vans to the max with people and luggage. The concierge was nice enough to help me book Faxipan tickets via email. At check in, the front desk lady was not very knowledgable about tours -- we ended up booking our hike through a different hotel down the street. The rooms were adequate, although some beds were very hard and some rooms did not have stand alone showers. The beds were clean, but the carpet in our family suite smelled like wet dog. The views were unbeatable though, and breakfast every morning was decent. Overall we were satisfied, although it was not a luxurious stay by any means. Definitely a family run business.

Great views but just OK everything else
I don't really get into the negative review writing about any experience but I do feel compelled to write this one. My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and when we first arrived were so taken by the amazing views of our room, straight out onto the mountains that we didn't see the small things that the room lacked that actually turned out to be big things when staying for four days. Sapa is hot during the day so a fridge would have been great in the room and a necessity for the warmer months. The TV is there but is in a weird place that you would never use and the plug doesn't work. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable. Also watch the bathroom that you don't flush the toilet whilst someone is in the shower as this happened to us and gross I know but the previous nights dinner (that i spent all night getting back up and suspect was from a bad egg from the hotels breakfast) came back up the drain to greet me whilst I was trying to get myself to a good enough state to check out. In saying that, the hotel was good enough to transfer us to the sister hotel to rent out the room for the rest of the day before catching the overnight train back to Hanoi. Overall, I think this place was great back in the day when it was built but now has a run down feel and the service is not outstanding. What you see is what you get which is disappointing after such outstanding over and above service in the rest of Vietnam. Good if you staying 1-2 nights.

brilliant hotel, super staff.....
Stayed for 5 nights in this lovely hotel. Arrived early from the Hanoi night train and was served coffee and checked in within 20 mins. The staff here are brilliant. very friendly and happy, especially Trang who served me a lovely breakfast everyday with a smile and Nam(thanks for the karaoke invite). location is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to the market and some great coffee shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean and more than adequate.... everything you need, tea and coffee making facilities, fast wi-fi, flatscreen tv, should you wanna watch tv, comfy beds (fairly hard but thats to my liking) and heated blankets if you visit in the colder months. plenty of power outlets, lighting and a heater, lovely balcony with great view. bathroom is spacious and shower has one of those funky rain heads which runs very hot if you want it, but will cool down if you take a long time to shower. laundry service is same day and good quality. The restaurant on the top floor has amazing views and breakfast is included in the room price. Overall i reckon this hotel is great and i will stay here again for sure! Dave
