    Even sadder
My father died,so had to cancel trip last minute. They charged me anyway, refused even a partial refund, and had no available contact info.

This is NOT a Resort, rather an over priced Bedsit
The facilities did not represent value for money. This is NOT a resort in the true context of the meaning. It is clean and tidy and comfortable BUT does not offer resort services. Front Desk ONLY operates from 8 am till 5pm so when i discovered at 5.30 that i had no basic toiletries , shampoo , soap etc I had no one to contact. I mentioned it to bar staff who just said sorry, another guest gave me a small cake of soap to make do until the morning. Be Warned Now: Breakfast is not included in the $280+ per night room tariff. The onsite restaurant and bar are closed all day Monday and Tuesday so if you want something other than the in room coffee or tea, be prepared for a $30 taxi fare one way to a shop that is hopefully open. Monday an Tuesdays are the island weekend.. The restaurant and bar staff are lovely but the "resort" operators need to get their act together as had I have know in advance what I would have encountered I would have stayed elsewhere at half the price and chosen a location with similar rooms but with better options for meals and drinks and access to local attractions.

    Good 6.0
The place had a great view. Unfortunately, the sound proofing was not great and we could hear the people above us thumping around all night. Also, the staff were smoking outside the main office area which really was not a good first impression.

What a let down to end an amazing trip around NZ
A disappointing end to an amazing 3 weeks in New Zealand. No ferry terminal shuttle that’s advertised. Advised to get bus right to front door. Once arrived then realised that you have to lump your case up very steep hills to reception about 3-400m away. Receptionist not interested about our complaint stating that shuttle is only on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We stayed in a 1 bed studio which again was accessed via very steep stairs and hills from reception. The room was clean enough but very dated. No black our blinds so as soon as suns up you will be. The studios are below 2 bed apartments which unfortunately had a family with 3 kids staying and you heard absolutely everything including their game of tig at 6.30am which seemed to go on until 9.30. Again reception not interested. Overall the place is tired and lacking maintenance. I’d look at Airbnb in future instead of spending £200 a night to be so disappointed.
