Friendly and helpful staff. The Gym/Spa is down the road and around the corner ie a separate club that guests may use. The Restaurant is a separate business that again you leave the hotel to visit. There are no menus on the window, so you have to go in to find out what is on offer at what price.
The decor of the hotel is dull, and the quality of the workmanship not great. We had a big old style TV in our room with a reasonable choice of channels. The Shower into the bath was excellent.
The breakfast was good, although on day 2 rather than being offered a percolated coffee as on day 1, I was pointed in the direction of a coffee jug that had been on the side for a while and was not very hot, it did not taste good either.
Make sure to collect a car park ticket from the hotel before going down to the underground car park under the square. Ask to see pictures of how to use it, they are not on display. The car parking arrangements are ok.
Request windows away from the front of the hotel. The church is opposite and the clock chimes every hour and every half hour 24 hours a day! It can also be very noisy l from traffic - we were unlucky that the local supporters of Juventus decided to celebrate the team's success with much hooting ad shouting until 12:30 am.
For a budget hotel, it rates well against a 2*, at a stretch with the amenties it could be considered a 3* (Tristar). It may be that there are more expensive rooms available that would increase the rating.
