Good
Nice hotel but they are confused....
The hotel was nice it was clean the maid service was great but the food in the laundry service is extremely overpriced for Thailand . You can get laundry service done there and delivered to your hotel for literally 70% cheaper than what they offer it for and that goes for food as well.... I expressed my concern to the hotel staff at the front desk but instead of fixing the problem they said sorry there is nothing they can do about it so I had to take a cab which of course was cheap to another hotel to get my laundry done for a reasonable price and never ate at that hotel once because of how overpriced it was. We came here for honeymoon and when I asked to have flowers put in the room they wanted to charge me almost US$75 for a bottle of cheap champagne and a bouquet of flowers that literally is more than in the US what a rip off. Also we arrived a day early but didn't get to the hotel until very late we had a full week but starting the next day so we thought we would be given a good rate for the night considering we had a full week booked for almost US$900 But they would not accommodate us for a decent price even for a short night which seemed unfair so again we had to take a cab to another hotel to get a hotel for about six hours to sleep. Overall the room itself was clean comfortable it was a good location and we were happy with the room. But as far as the staff and the company are concerned I wouldn't stay here again just for that reason.

Good
More a local service apartment with good decor.
Stayed at this hotel but it is more akin to a service apartment than a real hotel. One block are actually service apartments that are sold. Facilities are minimal, the herb garden on the third floor has been converted to a function room to hold events for the hotel's business. The playroom is just has a table and a few bare chairs. The room itself is nice and big with a living and sleeping area but while the furnishings are nice, it still lacks all the touches to make it a 5 star hotel. The napkin on the dining table when we checked it was still dirty (I dread to think what else they didn't change) and the supplied soaps while adequate does not have the luxurious feel of a proper chain hotel. Other issues faced are that the in room phone system is not very functional, often the concierge or receptionist is unmanned. I had an issue with my dinner reservation that was done by the concierge, the taxi that I took from the hotel also did not receive proper instructions from the door man and tried to overcharge and scam me. Whilst the staff are nice and tries to be helpful, they do not have the English skills of an international chain hotel. The cafe at the hotel is also very expensive. The price of a coffee there is twice the price of the coffee I had at one of the Asian top 50 restaurants. I am perplexed of how they have a rating of 4.9/5 here. I would rate this more a 4 star hotel with service apartment feel than a 5 star hotel.

Very Good
good value with much room to improve
It is well located in the center, there is a nice market across the street, and enough cafes and restaurants with walking distance. The embassy neighbourhood was much below my expectation due to the overall bad infrastructure in Bangkok. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed when I saw the room. We booked a two-bedroom suite for the four of us and from the pictures on the website, it looked very pretty and modern. The actual apartment looked a bit rundown, and not cleaned to the spot, e.g., there was some obvious stain on the kitchen cabinet. Later when we changed into a normal room for an extended stay for the two of us, there was also blood stain on the bathroom door, and both the sink and the shower were not functioning well. The staff were helpful and kind overall, but I can also understand why some earlier reviews found them incapable. When the three of us checked in first, I asked the male receptionist whether they can leave one key to my boyfriend who would arrive in a later flight. The receptionist assured me that he would do it without additional security concerns, and also confirmed with me in various occasions that he was fully aware that we have four people. However, when my bf arrived, the receptionist told him that I never told him there was one more person to come, and had to call me to allow my bf in. It was lucky that I was in the room at that time, otherwise, my poor bf might have to wait for hours after 15+ hours flight.

Exceptional
Great hotel - the apartments are fantastic.
The Oriental Residence is an extremely elegant hotel. From the moment the door men greet you, the smell of the fresh aroma they have filled the lobby with and the decor - you know you’ve arrived at a quality hotel. The staff are as always in Thailand, polite and attentive. The check in experience was quick and easy and was done while we sat at the reception desk. The room was brilliant - we had booked the one bedroom, garden view suite. The amenities were great, big living room kitchenette and the bedroom bathroom were a good size. It was immaculately clean and the turn down service was given a special touch with an orchid being left on the bed every night. We were there for 4 nights and were so busy we didn’t get to use the pool. We did check it out though and it looked very nice and an escape from the hectic pace of Bangkok! The hotel is on the very busy wireless road, which was congested for most of the time. This didn’t worry us because we were staying for leisure so we walked to Lumphini metro or the shorter walk to Phloen Chit BTS Station. Both very convenient and easy to use. If you need to use a car - suggest leaving plenty of time! But from what we’ve heard that’s not unique to this hotel...it’s just Bangkok! Would highly recommend this hotel! Will definitely return for a repeat visit!

Exceptional
Homely-feel. Very courteous & cheerful front desk staff. Efficient check-in. Tall ceilings at lobby, very colonial feel, white in colour...clean & pleasing to the eye. The welcoming scent at the lobby has calming effects:)) Cabinet paper lined in all drawers which was a super plus point. We didn’t hv to place paper bags in them in order to put our clothes & accessories. So clean. Loved the fact that everything we needed could be found in the apartment, even a shoe-horn stick. Functional kitchenette, it has settled all our needs. TWG tea bags. Walk-in wardrobe is within the reasonably big bathroom. Very self-sufficient. Fantastic breakfast & lunch menu at Cafe Claire, very high quality/organic foods! Wonderfully tasty. Lots of greenery around the Residences. Quiet location. Near to Embassy Mall & other shopping areas (we hired a car/driver to bring us around). Small gym but it has good equipment, overlooking luscious green. Loved nature! Pool is partially sheltered. When it drizzles, no qualms, continue to swim. All of us are happy, zero complaints. Quiet corridors... very pleasant environment. Highly recommend for short or long stayers coming as a family or for business.
