All that glitters isn't gold
This hotel is great in theory: it has amenities, a great location, and the price is right. But once you arrive, it all feels cheap. At first, in the lobby I was blasted by the smell of too-strong air freshener. It was like cheap cologne, and way-too much of it. This smell made the abundance of chandeliers seem too bright and too cheap. Riding up to our 24th floor room would have been a break from the smell except the elevators are small so they get crowded when 5 people are in them--crowded elevators at all times was annoying. And so was breakfast: who wants to eat pre-cooked poached eggs? Or pancakes that come out of a machine? The pool was gorgeous but also very crowded, and the rooms had great views but no place to put clothes, if you're like me and would rather unpack than live out of your suitcase. Instead of dressers with drawer, or even closets with room enough to hang clothing, there was a long shelf (for suitcases) and a closet big enough for the two basic robes that came with the room and a few additional items. At the high end restaurant, we suffered through dinner after a child sitting next to us vomited. The staff cleaned it up, but we us to eat next to a stinky scene with no sympathy from the staff. Our rooms got cleaned around 4-5pm, and we were always thirsty since the 2 small bottles of water were simply inadequate. In all, we longed for the comparably priced hotel where we stayed during our first weekend in Bangkok.

Enjoyable stay
We had booked this hotel on account of the good reviews and fancied having a splurge as we normally pay a lot less. We even upgraded to take advance of the Executive lounge. The nibbles were delightful but neither my husband and I had been feeling 100% so didn’t indulge that much. My cocktail was huge, far too much for me so had a mocktail which was frankly just overly sweet fizzy water. I ended up having a peppermint tea (how exciting!). Husband stuck to the white wine but he said it was pretty rubbish which was a shame. That said, the breakfast was nice and it was relaxing having a seat by the window. The location was handy as we only had one night and wanted to just do a river trip up to Nonthaburi. We also used the BTS and ARL to get from airport to hotel. It wasn’t overly difficult and there were lifts at all the stops we needed to change at which was handy as we had big suitcases. We would have done the same on the way back but didn’t want to get all hot and uncomfortable before our long plane journey. We got a taxi from the hotel and it was only 400B including tolls and a tip. The public transport was 160B for 2 of us so the taxi was worth it. We had been concerned we might get caught in traffic but it wasn’t an issue. Would I stay again? Not at that price I’m afraid but it was certainly pleasant and the room was huge. For one night you just don’t really get to enjoy it before you have to check out again.

Fantastic views from the 32nd Floor
We had a wonderful stay at the Eastin Grand Bangkok. The room was comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. The bathroom had a real wow factor - view from the bath could not be beaten! We had access to the 32nd floor for complimentary cocktails and canapes each evening which in our opinion was well worth it. In fact we found we didn't need much dinner afterwards because the complimentary food was so good and plentiful. We also enjoyed dining for breakfast on the 32nd floor which was a perk of our room type. The pool was as fantastic as the photos suggest and we found it not too crowded. There is an adjoining poor bar where you can order refreshments. The Skytrain stops right outside the hotel and there is even a private elevated walkway directly to the hotel door. The staff greeting us really made us smile each time we arrived back at the hotel from the Skytrain. The hotel is one train stop away from the pier at Sathorn where you can purchase a day long hop-on-hop-off tourist ferry ticket which was a good way of seeing a lot of the sights. We travelled to the hotel from the airport by Skytrain and although a couple of changes were involved it was perfectly do-able even with the suitcases. The Thai people are so friendly and courteous. We really enjoyed our time in Bangkok and are so glad we picked this hotel.

Very Good 8.0
Overall, our 4-night stay at the Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn in the Executive Deluxe room was great. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. Our room and the rest of the hotel was clean and well maintained. The breakfast options were vast and tasty, and enjoying breakfast in the Executive Lounge on the 32nd floor offered an amazing start to each day with incredible views of the city. The location was also ideal, having direct access to the BTS via the hotels 3rd floor. Our only issue was the outlets in our room. Although the amount of outlets was generous, to say the least, most days most of the outlets were not working. Coming from the US, we made sure to bring several adapters and converters, as well as regular plugs that accepted 220V. However, the majority of the outlets just did not charge our devices. Everyday was a hunt to find the one working outlet, as it changed each day, and sometimes by the hour. As you can imagine, this was unbelievably frustrating. The same devices, adapters and converters worked perfectly in all outlets at our next hotel in Phuket. Nevertheless, the outlet situation was our only issue (albeit a major one) with the hotel. Everything else about our experience was flawless, and I would definitely go back again if the outlet situation was remedied.

Great hotel with easy access to the train
I stayed here for the first 3 nights on my honeymoon in Thailand. This was a great hotel, and I appreciate it even more after staying at a different hotel in Bangkok at the end of our trip. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The access to the Sky Train (BTS) was amazing! I didn't realize how convenient this was at the time, but it really made getting around so much easier. My husband and I loved taking the BTS to the MBK shopping mall. I like how the hotel had a 24-hr fitness room, (which I used at 4am because I was on American-time). Their pool was really nice, too. We enjoyed the food at the breakfast buffet and the happy hour at the pool bar was a really relaxing way to spend our first night in Bangkok. This hotel was so convenient to everything, and for that reason alone, I'd stay here again. We took a tuk-tuk to the Sky Bar, (about 5-10 mins away with traffic), and ate at The Blue Elephant, right next door, which was very good. Our room was small, but it worked well for us. Also, we weren't in the room that often. The bathroom was a good size. Everything was very comfortable.
