Great area for souvenir shopping! steps from the shrine. The owners are nice. THe best is the top floor onsen (gender segregated). It is a beautiful ofutu with nice views and clean shower areas. The onsen are relaxing and quiet. The teishoku breakfast, though not complimentary, was nice. We were polite and quiet, but the other Americans in the breakfast room were loud, rude, and embarassing. This seems to be a favorite hotel for tourists.

Nice experience at a Japanese-style inn
Everyone who visits Japan should stay in a Japanese ryokan at least once. Don't expect a usual Western-style hotel -- the room we stayed in had a tiny bathroom and small room with Japanese-style futons (i.e., beds on the floor) and a low table with cushions. The star attraction is probably the upstairs public bath. Overall, this ryokan was comfortable and charming.

Great ryokan
This is a great ryokan-style hotel. Rooms are clean and neat, with tatami floors (no shoes allowed) and woodwork throughout. My room also had a small shower. The public baths upstairs (segregated) are clean and elegant and are delightful for soaking in after a long day.

Traditional Japanese Style
Before I wrote my review I wanted to remind everyone this is a Ryokan, Japanese style, so don't expect beds and extremely lavish accommodations. What you can expect is an excellent taste of traditional Japan. The location is excellent, you walk out the door around the corner and your right in the heart of the action and shrine. The Ryokan offers an onsen with a view of the Skytree tower. I highly recommend taking advantage of using this. It's extremely relaxing and part of the cultural experience. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful (yes they speak english). Breakfast comes in traditional Japanese and western styles for 1000 yen extra. It's recommended as most of the available restaurants don't open until 1000 in the morning. My wife and I enjoyed it very much and plan on using this place again in the near future.
