Hostal San Blas, Madrid
A dangerous situation
This second stay was quite different from the first stay. Second floor rooms do not have internet and the lounge where it is available is outside and subject to rain: No place to shelter. My big concern is the elevator does not work and there is only one small stairway. All rooms have bars on the windows so one could not exit from the windows in the case of fire, much like the fire in India where dozens perished because the boys could not get out the windows to safety.

Very Good8.0
Hostal San Blas is a nice, secure place to stay.
My stay at Hostal San Blas was good. The reception was very helpful and courteous. Location was great, price was right and I plan to return in the fall.

Very Budget Hotel
This Hostal is very close to the main train station of Madrid Atocha. I wouldn't recommend anyone staying in this hotel. There is an alley outside our room and the trashman were picking up the trash so early in the morning that you could hear the noise in the bedroom. There were also some teenagers doing drugs outside the building. There is NO working elevator here. There is also NO breakfast. There is wifi but the signal is poor. The receptionist is nice. Check-in time is 1:00pm. As for location, this is very close to the Hop-On Hop-Off bus stop which is outside McDonald same bus stop as the regular bus stop. If I were to go back to Madrid, I wouldn't want to stay here again. The bed is very uncomfortable.
