Old world charm
Charming old world establishment. The shared bathroom was rustic and a reminder of the original guesthouse.Breakfast was great and the dining room with 2 open fires on a old wet evening was very glamorous. If you want 5 star ultramodern boring hotel this is not for you. Staff were absolutely wonderful So thanks for a great weekend

Lots of charm but a bit rough around the edges.
Beautiful old hotel with lots of charm but definitely needs a facelift in some areas. Bathrooms need to be renovated and brought up to standard with no shower over toilet situations, a bath (we were traveling with children and expected a bath from a hotel given we were staying in one of the nicest rooms) and a fridge in the room. These are really quite basic necessities in a hotel room especially when paying $300 a night. All that said, the staff were lovely and very helpful, storing our baby’s milk in their kitchen fridge and the food in the restaurant was excellent and the included breakfast was very tasty. Loved the chickens and ducks running around and enjoyed swimming in the pool. We have very fond memories of coming here as children so was very happy to return and see the building so well maintained and cared for. Really enjoyed sitting in the living room and the marshmallows to toast in the fire is a very nice touch.

Not as advertised :-(
I hate giving bad reviews , but this story has to be told. I must say the staff was remarkable and apologetic, but the infrastructure let us down. First there was no wi-fi as advertised. When I asked I was told that's correct as it doesn't reach the second floor. So, I couldn't work as planned. Then our heater didn't work in the room, it was 9 degrees at night in a cold old building, and no other available rooms. They were very kind in bringing us portable electric heaters but with 3-4 metre high ceilings they simply didn't really do anything. So, I got 4 hours of cold sleep and had to do a mountain bike marathon at 7am. When I turned the tap on the shower in the morning, the entire fitting unscrewed and almost fell out in my hand. I had to perform some field work to not lose the water. The property is stunning and the staff is incredible, but the room simply didn't deliver.
